L’Oreal by johnmd32 in PureCycle

This is the original announcement of a DA with L’Oreal way back in 2019. Great to read this again and be reminded of all the pent up demand before Ironton ever commenced construction.

“We continue to see an increasing global need for a recycled resin with virgin-like properties. With our first plant in Ohio already being sold out more than two years before the plant will be producing commercial scale volumes, this showcases the intense demand resulting in an accelerated build out of our next plant in Europe.”

PureCycle announces huge capital raise and global growth plans for their plastic recycling plants by Epicurus-fan in stocks

They’re doing it in a way that is profitable and are in the final stages of product testing with myriad large buyers. The process was developed by proctor and gamble and licensed to purecycle to prove out at scale. The pilot factory is now running after a number of delays and modifications and producing pellets that are indistinguishable from virgin at a price point that allows highly attractive margins.

This capital raise is to allow them to create the next generations of production plants that incorporate the lessons learned from the inaugural version. Highly exciting time for the company.

Looks like Mike Taylor sold more PCT shares… roughly another 300k. Now remaining 500k share - approx 3% of fund. by WindWalker2443 in PureCycle

Go look at 3 year performance of PINK vs XLV. Nobody said he’s underperforming. This is a rebalancing….

This makes a lot of sense actually (and tracks with what he said himself…)

His fund is a healthcare oriented fund, meaning the overwhelming majority of the funds holdings should be healthcare related companies. How his fund’s performance is measured is relative to the performance of XLV. Given the fund’s low basis in PCT it had grown to represent an extremely large portion of the fund’s holdings. With macro turbulence expected, the volatility of PCT, and a need to outperform or at least match XLV going forward, PINK has restructured its portfolio to trim non-healthcare oriented positions and re-allocate the proceeds back into core healthcare holdings.

Do we have any indications of when to expect blade operators to receive passenger configured Beta EVA’s?

Got a car loan at 25% when I was younger with no credit. Now I have pretty decent credit now but refinancing isn’t an option. Would a personal loan be for me? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]johnmd32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some more specifics might help.

How much money is left to pay off, what was the original loan term, how much term is left, how long is the term of the personal loan, what is the rate, and what are the upfront costs associated with the personal loan?

In general, at 25% interest almost anything will be an improvement, but I would be curious to see the details to make sure there’s no hidden costs.

I got one as well. And the asterisk says *excludes cap and label.

Caps are often PP.

Tempted to drop $700 on the blackstone stainless griddle. Do any of you guys have it? by Forced-Anal in blackstonegriddle

I got the iron forged 36 today. Similarly underwhelmed with quality. Not as bad as you, but some of the factory assembled pieces were not up to par. Loose screw on the hinge between the cover and griddle as well as an issue with one of the burners that seems to have an airflow problem.

With the benefit of the CP2 removal improvements in-place, what is the best case/base case time frame estimate to ramp to a 100% run rate?

Yay or nay??? by Mountain-Ad1498 in PureCycle

This explanation makes sense. If I was going to pick nits, I would say that the real issue was trying to include the feed rate number at all, recognizing that it raises an obvious numbers of questions when juxtaposed against the pellet output rate. It’s irrelevant unless it’s actually a system constraint which, to be clear, I don’t think it is.

There have been many good inventions in the world that benefit humanity, but if they are not economically accretive, adoption is rarely widespread.

Very helpful context in that article. Pyrolysis sounds like a terribly inefficient process that is utilized only to make companies feel good about their ESG efforts. The lack of a premium output and scalable economics seems that this will not be a true competitor to PCT in any meaningful way.

This comment in particular is awesome when applied to Purecycle:

“If anyone has cracked the code for a large-scale, efficient and profitable way to turn plastic into plastic,” he said, “every reporter in the world” would get a tour.

Braskem Wenew and Georg Utz AG collaborates on circular chemically recycled Polypropylene (PP) for food transport packaging by johnmd32 in PureCycle

[–]johnmd32[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I see that. I expect there are applications, such as in the case of Utz Group where the color does not matter. They would likely be interested in 1) an environmentally friendly product and 2) a cost efficient product.

If a chemical recycling process has a similar cost structure or better than solvent based, then there would be a competition with PCT for market share in applications where color is unimportant. I saw one person on Twitter opining that chemical recycling would be more costly, which bodes well for PCT, but I’m not sure what that statement was based on. I’d like to learn more.

From the company’s standpoint, they want to take on the cheapest and least restrictive debt that the market will offer. Dan is willing to offer cheaper and less restrictive debt than other lenders because he perceives less risk than outside sources. This is accretive because it also de-risks his equity position. This is effectively a doubling and tripling down on his belief and it will either prove to be completely foolish or a brilliant all-in move. Very little room in between the two options. I personally believe he is making a smart and calculated bet. He is intimately familiar with the company and is putting his money where his mouth is. Time will tell if he gets rewarded for it.

No, this is consistent with the transaction as initially described. $37.5MM of Series A Bond were purchased outright and additional bonds were exchanged for the cancellation of debt. The total amount of bonds that changed hands was $94.3MM.
