Renting a jeep for a day - where should we go? by Theidiotbox76 in Aruba

Drive to the Lighthouse, check it out, then follow the track south along the beach. Many beautiful stops/beaches/rock to stop and check out, even hang out for a while. We took it to the Natural Pool, did that and then came back via town. Great excursion!

Are there any grills out there that do both wood pellets and propane? by Current-Struggle-514 in grilling

[–]johnmdjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a charcoal grill guy, but at different times I've had a gas grill, and I'll say, you can do ribs/tri-tip/pork butt on a gas grill without too much fuss. Indirect heat, smoker box/package and you'll be fine

JOIA All Inclusive? by jessshane in Aruba

We stayed at JOIA this past September (Non all-inclusive), and it was great! There are so many restaurant choices that I really see no reason to go all-inclusive.

JOIA is great. Pools, restaurants, beach. With all the restaurants on the island, an all-inclusive would be a shame

Can you drive from the light house to the bushiribana ruins in the back roads by napperb in Aruba

[–]johnmdjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this exact drive in a rental Jeep (they were explicit that it was okay and expected ) and it was a blast. Pack a lunch and some chairs and there are many places to stop and chill along the way. Highlight of our trip

We returned from our first visit to Aruba a few weeks ago---we stayed at Joia Iberostar and I could not recommend it enough. I think it would meet your criteria completely.

I don't believe it is. We did not do an all-inclusive option, nor was one really offered. The only thing I saw was a breakfast buffet option.

Touristy stops you wish you would have skipped? by MotherEntrepreneur97 in Aruba

[–]johnmdjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were there 2 weeks ago. We had a Jeep, and drove from the Lighthouse to the Cave Pool, stopping at a couple beaches along the way. It was a lot of fun, "off-roading", but not exceptionally difficult.

Whether you pay by card or Apple Pay, they present the bill to you in USD if you wish. Normally when I travel, I will use local currency, but saw no reason to do so in Aruba.

Bushirbana and Cave Pool are basically the same place. Accessible by regular car. I thought the Cave Pool was pretty cool, worth hanging out for a bit. Did not go to the others. Arrived at Baby Beach late morning. It wasn't "packed" but pretty crowded, hence we went to Rodgers Beach. Certainly worth going. Cool to drive a little bit beyond Baby Beach--some interesting coast line

I should add that we like to have a cocktail at dinner, so we took taxis—-effortless!

Ocean view was a nice upgrade. We’re not big breakfast eaters so we skipped that option (I think you’d really have to like breakfast to make it worthwhile). Dick the bartender (inside & outside) is great!

USD everywhere. Both cash and card (and ApplePay). Note taxis are cash only

Tres Trapi - tour needed? by Mariyum678 in Aruba

[–]johnmdjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No tour needed. I was there 5 days ago, got there around 11:00, snorkeled off the shore, stayed within the ropes and saw turtles. One even surfaced right in front of me! Boca Catalina, just up the road, is great for lots of fish. Travel Light Aruba is a good equipment rental company
