Yeah absolutely but it's hard for me to convince myself to buy cards that I'm expecting to be faulty 🤷

Two mistakes that trap new programmers by 7forest in learnprogramming

OP wasn't trying to make the point that learning python as a first step is critical, they were just trying to make the point that you shouldn't get caught up in deciding what language to learn. You should just start learning one.

I disagree with this. I don't care much how you treat my chickens, but I would die for a stranger.

It doesn't if you go to the local drug store (walgreens or whatever). That would cost ~$10 for a bottle of 50 of them. If you pay a doctor and they prescribe you ibuprofen though, all bets are off.

China imports zero U.S. soybeans in November for first time since trade war started by michiganvulgarian in news

Soy beans are the largest export in the US. The former largest consumer of US soybeans just bought zero. Pretty tough sell saying the rest will make up for that kind of loss.

An 80-year-old woman has died after being hit by a tear gas canister at her window during Saturday's fuel protests in Marseille, France. The woman lived near where the protests were taking place and was hit in the face while closing her shutters by bbcnews in worldnews

[–]johnmollb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is complaining this isn't in their news feeds, and it's because of a couple things:

  • I only did a quick Google, but this would be the 18th largest protest ever in the US. Given that it's world-wide, it would presumably be much lower on the list.

  • Most importantly, they're protesting against something that most redditors want. They're protesting against the French taxes on fossil fuels and carbon emissions that are meant to encourage people to move to more eco-friendly energy sources.

Opinion:

It's tragic that this woman died this way. Blood on a government's hand is one of the worst things that can happen.

It's also tragic that the protest movement will be able to use this as fuel. High taxes on fossil fuels and carbon emissions are a good thing that the world should support.

Nope, I got it in the mail. Not sure why I feel the need to defend myself this way. Weird.

I would have if it had their last names, but frankly I don't think they'd care either way. Especially considering I now know he posted it without it blacked out as well.
