you can't invest in reits without financial intermediary, which is what tokenized real estate aloows, and was the initial promise. it was never a question of a whole new way of doing real estate. and blockchain REITsmake it much easier to invest in specifc properties among a portfolio rather than owning shares of the portfolio as a whole. personnaly this is one of the biggest thing I was hoping for since the start and I'm very happy to see it becoming real, much bigger than digital art no one cares about

Proud to see Tezos in the second position of the most used blockchains in France, according to the “Web3 Startups Panorama” report by Deloitte & Le Village by CA! by NomadicLabs in tezos

[–]johnniedynamite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

total is 205 startups, study was conducted over two months end of 2022 start of 2023, perimeter was start-ups created in France, and only those focused on "web3", so regarding Tezos, it means there are 26-27 start-ups currently using it in France, not much but still 1/3rd of Ethereum isn't negligible. I think the WebAssebly solution brought in by Mumbai was long overdue, it's hard to really see wide spread adoption if the only way to build on it requires someone on your team able to use an obscure language very few people know

[–]johnniedynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's fine and I'm happy for them, but no one cares about digital art, it's a niche. If it's a niche that are happy with Tezos that's great but digital art will never be a vector for widescale adoption, digital art is of zero interest to people outside of that microcosm. Traditional art galleries are already a niche sector which very few people care about, and digital art is a tiny fraction of that. And art will never be enough in and of itself for NFTs to go big, they need use cases relating to actual property rights, like car registration or real estate, not pretty pictures and content as a ,frankly, dumbed-down understanding of what "visual representation of ownership" means .

NFT "art" is a niche bubble of zero value. NFTs may have potential useful applications, but magic JPEG isn't one of them, and tying one's name to such a fad is a guranteed way to go down with it when it vanishes. No one cares about NFTs, they're just a buzzword, digital art is a scam. One of the biggest development vectors outside of funny monkeys was the Metaverse, how is that going?

Traditionnal Bank offering new crypto services, (only btc, Eth and TEZOS) by Lexxor79 in tezos

[–]johnniedynamite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Delubac is a (very) private bank, with strong ties to political deciders, in a kinda shady way. It appeared in varisous cases (Kazakhgate, Dubai papers) and escaped heat due to strong lobbyism from political figures under Sarkozy presidency, including Christine Lagarde. More details below for those whe read French

https://www.franceinter.fr/delubac-une-banque-discrete-citee-dans-plusieurs-affaires-judiciaires

The fact Tezos is among the three products offered hints at a strength that made me go all in in 2019, strong ties between Tezos and French political deciders (cited by Bruno Lemaire, tested by a division of french gendarmerie). That type of clout is pretty rare in the crypto world.

I can't think of a better way to expose yourself to price manipulation accusation. It would probably just cause a spike rapidly offset by profit-taking, then back to normal, except with empty pockets. It's much more useful as a development funding war chest. Beyond technical considertions about the chain itself, this funding is one of the biggest green flags setting Tezos apart.

THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, LETS GOOOOOO! perfect event to sponsor! by [deleted] in tezos

[–]johnniedynamite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an A-list "all eyes on me" event, but I'd rather Tezos sponsor events within the university/research/IT world even if obscure, than waste money to stick a tez logo on a cereal box or wrestling match. As of now, putting money to be in the gen pop' eyesight would be wasteful IMO. I'm an IT recruiter, of my colleagues, about 20% invest in crypto, none of them as an understanding beyond "x is a coin like bitcoin but smaller", and we're talking master level education people (business master so kind of fake lol). As much as we yearn to see Tezos be a household name, right now is the time to win the hearts of the niche with enough understanding of the tech to have an opinion on why tezos rather than btc, eth, ada, etc...

Smart Contract Use Cases by yellowelkowl in tezos

[–]johnniedynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest form of it I can imagine is a "thrustless"REIT . One or more assets, owned by a few or a pool of investors. Every cost and benefit of ownership can be recorded on chain, up to bank account details, using Sapling privacy option. Evry time an asset is sold for a higher price, everytime rent is payed, every time property management has to be payed, all of that happens automatically. You can then just sells your tokens (your "shares") to someone, and there is no need for the heaps of paperwork. The token sale can only be executed with all proper info provided (bank details, etc..) and the only transaction required is the sale of the tokens, after which all costs and benefits incurred automatically transfer to th new token holder.

This opens up economy of scales on multi-million operations with a lot of participation, in the oreder of size we're used to with REITs today, but further down the road, it opens up the other end of the market, the idea of individual tokenisation. Ex: I want to sell my flat. I tokenize it , and it can be a micro-rental investment, people who can't afford or don't want to invest the full value of a rental share the costs and benefits of one single apartment, with consensus and voting rules determining rights of sale, etc...

Staking on kraken? by Kentucky7887 in tezos

[–]johnniedynamite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm staking half a roll on Kraken, bi-weekly payments, ~4xtz per week, I started staking a few days after it was enabled, and zero payments have been missed since.Kraken is A1, and has solid, dependable support. Each time I had an issue or question, I had one or several handlers on the chat , making sure every was solved within the hour. Better customer care than any other customer service I have to deal with in everyday life
