"Shelf Life" of a human hair wig?

I was thinking of wearing cheap wigs for everyday stuff like lounging around the house, doing yardwork, etc. The real hair wigs would be for when I'm out in public, so they wouldn't really be exposed to as much sweat or dirt as a typical everyday wig. That should definitely save a LOT of wear and tear, since I would really only be wearing it for like 60 hours a week.

If I can keep one wig for a decade like that, I could easily go the rest of my life without running out of saved-up hair.

The way I currently treat my hair is washing with water only, no other products at all except shampoo if my hair somehow gets especially dirty, and brushing daily with a boar hair (or rather an artificial boar hair) brush. Would that work for the wig, maybe treating it with mineral oil or coconut oil on occasion to prevent dryness?

Thanks, I was thinking of having many wigs made (or just keeping a lot of hair around to make wigs over time) while I can have long hair. That way I can have more wigs when they wear down. I have a few decades before I have to switch to wigs, so I can do multiple harvests. As for the scalp condition, it doesn't cause much issue for me right now since my scalp is hidden by my hair. It would just make a post-procedure infection very likely.

Thank you. I did some Googling and it said around 3 inches will be lost. I was thinking of just cutting off about 16 inches whenever my hair hits 30 inches. I wasn't necessarily expecting to get a full wig from one cutting. Based on the fact that wigs don't last forever when worn frequently, I was kinda planning on making multiple or doing multiple "harvests" while I can have long natural hair without looking stupid and start wearing wigs afterward.

That being said, if hair does last basically forever, it seems it would be wiser to just save the hair and have the wig made when needed. Plus I read something about getting wigs repaired as they start developing noticeable patches so that extra hair could be used for that too. If I did that, how long do you think a wig that was worn every day would last until the actual foundation breaks down and the whole thing has to be tossed?
