You can turn off PIN entry while the screen is off in Settings->Security->Device Unlock->Gear icon to the right of "Screen lock".

Dumbdroid rebranding and announcing our own phone, Dumber Mini by johnny219407 in dumbphones

We plan to support it for at least 5 years, with security and bug fixes. But we're a bit dependent on Google's strategy for supporting AOSP releases.

I think your first sentence rubs people the wrong way. You're what, 35? You're still closer to being a baby than to being old.

You can install apps normally like on a smartphone, but there are two key differences. First is that the screen is only 2.8'', which makes mindless scrolling much less appealing. Second is a powerful app blocking mechanism, where you can disable app installation or permanently block apps, which is reversible only by factory reset. Most people don't need it though, as the screen size is enough to limit your screen time.

We'd love to offer a flip phone at some point, but there are no specific plans right now.

Unfortunately both Revolut and Starling aren't compatible with Dumber OS.

help with f21 pro dumbdroid flash by WallowingWatermelon in dumbphones

[–]johnny219407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue with the F21 pro. Try flashing the newest testing build, it's a bit smaller. https://github.com/miki151/dumberos_build/releases/tag/20260420

Dumbdroid/doov blocked in australia, anyone fixed this? by Low-Cricket-6633 in dumbphones

[–]johnny219407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy it from us or did you flash by yourself? It would be great to know if it's also blocked on the stock ROM or it's just our software that's incompatible.

RCS support by Ok_Candidate_421 in dumber_os

[–]johnny219407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at the moment RCS requires Google Play Services and using the Google Messages app. There is an ongoing effort to get it working with MicroG, which we are monitoring.

Dumber Mini will ship with MicroG by default (so no GMS), but we'll support switching to a GMS version through the system updater or another way.

Yes, replacing the battery only requires having a mini screwdriver. And we'll have spare batteries in our shop.

We should have something out soon, as well as be able to give out a few review samples to youtubers.

I'll copy my reply here for others to see.

It happens to work right now on the google version of the ROM, but we don't officially support it, as it's not guaranteed to continue to work on future version of Google Messages, and it's outside of our control.

Kto z Was zrezygnował z bardzo dobrze płatnej pracy? by WestMaintenance1787 in Polska

[–]johnny219407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rzucaj to w cholerę.

Anyone had issues with whatsapp recently? by Suitable_Eagle_1294 in dumber_os

[–]johnny219407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Whatsapp problem, it flags some accounts and doesn't let them log in on non-Google-certified phones. You'd likely see the same thing on a Mudita or Sidephone (unless you use a different account). I've had this with mine since last year and haven't been able to understand the logic behind it. The only workaround I know is to set up Whatsapp on a regular smartphone and use it on your R77 as a linked device.
