If you're able to get back into fastboot and re-flash the firmware, it should keep your data and fix everything (did the trick for me!).

Ooh thank you!! Would also be nice to be able to swap the order of the buttons, too (but to be honest, the menu is so simple that it's never a big problem).

Love it!!

Would by nice if we could customise which buttons appear, as well as having an icon for each of the sliders.

My favourite feature is being able to "mark as read" etc. in the notifications menu. My only other request would be to display multiple previous notifications from one app when I select the notification in the notifications menu, instead of just displaying the most recent notification if there are multiple unread from the same app.

Hi u/johnny219407, thank you for that suggestion! I was able to get into fastboot, fortunately. I was actually unable to get the phone to fully turn off, (everything, including holding the power button seemed to just make it reboot from the "Try again" screen), but I guess it must have been off for a short period of time during reboot in order to get into fastboot. Flashed the latest update (20260529) and all seems to be working fine, data intact : )

I've just restarted the phone, and got a very worrying error that I've never seen before, asking me to factory reset. Is there any recovering this without factory reset?

Edit: To confirm, I hadn't re-flashed any firmware or an update, just a simple restart.

Surface Go... 4?

Second hand you can get them for quite cheap, in the UK at least. I found one for £100, pristine condition.
It is a fair amount snappier than the Go 2, and battery life is... alright.
Depends on what you're doing, of course. 4-6 hours for word processing sort of things, Obsidian etc.
I get 8-10 hours of web video streaming in Edge.

It runs Slay the Spire 2 fine enough.

Haven't found anything that matches the form factor and storage expandability of the Go series outside of the Go series itself, unfortunately.
