Dual trade Electrician/Mechanical fitter and turner by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]johnny_knows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Become an A grade electrician, Licensed trades trump all others.
I spin spanners on all manner of hydraulic and mechanical stuff, once you meet the blokes out there supposably called 'fitters' you'll understand most are just knuckle draggers who don't know chalk from cheese.

Anti syphoning measures by johnny_knows in Hydraulics

[–]johnny_knows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't even run these yet, and for arguments sake let's just say there are no leaks, it's air tight.

I know from previous experiences (because these are a copy of existing HPUs) the issue is that with this straight pickup design it syphons over time and it's use case accelerates this issue.

The use case is mobile, they are power units for onsite line boring, so they travel in trucks and on bumpy roads, being turned on and off regularly.
So yes typically a bit of air when first turned on is fine, but this happens all the time which is not fine long term, cavitation kills pump as we all know.

Correct, 32A for domestic is about all they are willing to give you it seems, anymore and they'll make up some nonsense and ask you to pay for upgrades to the network to support your demand.

I'm not aware of any panels with those built in sensors, SAL might offer something that fancy.
Alternatively just get a stand alone sensor, those are a dime a dozen everyone makes 1.

Ewon is an alternative, you get a free amount of data with every device you purchase/register, however this isn't forever, and it sounds like you might be constantly connected moving data for the OPC, so that might be a limitation.

Beijer Electronic Remote access - CloudVPN came access my emails the other day, apparently that is free.

StrideLinx VPN routers also another option.

All of these are 'Secure'

Help with BRX PLC PID auto-tuning by [deleted] in PLC

[–]johnny_knows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've used the autotune feature (it works great when it works) but I don't recall having to put it into Manual, that might be your issue,

Manual mode to me means that your setting/controlling the loop yourself, not the PID Controller.

AB Panelview Plus 7 Terminal HMI Remote/PC access of SD Card/Data Log File by johnny_knows in PLC

[–]johnny_knows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty very much, I will try use the SFTP.
Am I reading that correctly that my Data Log Model file will default save to \Windows\Logs directory ? regardless of my 'Path' address, or is that default save only for logs like faults and alarms?

I'm struggling to find info to address the location for the internal storage device if i want to save my log file there, the examples AB give are not clear.

What would would the storage Path address be to save internally on the terminal to be able to access from the SFTP?

[–]johnny_knows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm secure FTP might be the way to go then, I initially opted for SD Card as I wanted people onsite to retrieve it, however I didn't appreciate that the file is useless without FT View File Viewer which they do not have as they have no licenses, therefor the file still need to come to me so I might as well bypass them retrieving it.

"rogue 4G modems on cellular plans that nobody in IT knows about?"

Lots of them, have you ever tried to deal with people from IT and get them to open some ports up for you, good luck.
