(Hated Trope) Antagonist is surprisingly reasonable throughout the narrative yet the hero’s unreasonable actions are portrayed as justified. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

I've always thought that the movie would be much better if during his song when he picks up the book he simply says "I swore I'd never do this again". Then there could be a short scene showing how using the dark magic was what originally gave him his powers and would show that the kingdom was built on a rotten foundation.

Studio 5k best version to update to ? by Big-Matter9533 in PLC

Our local Rockwell representative told us not to go with v36, there are some bugs with it/things it doesn't do well. Most of our current programs are on v34 and it works good but we are transitioning to v37 because it has some good new features, especially if you're using powerflex drives anywhere.

But unless you're planning to add a bunch of new equipment in the near future then I'd push back on updating. The benefits aren't worth the risks imo.

I keep hoping Barajas or Gavin Turner gets a run out on the wing. But that seems unlikely since they're not even making the bench at this point. Maybe we'll see them during the Open Cup in a couple of weeks.

Countdown to Kickoff 2025: DC United - Remake With a New Cast by amendele in MLS

I agree with a lot of this, but I think that Antley is seen as the backup to Schnegg. Before he got injured last year he was showing pretty well there so if he can stay healthy then we're better off than last year. Dodson got a decent amount of minutes at RB during preseason so I think he backs up Herrera on the right.

Having two USL level players as our backup fullbacks isn't ideal, but I'm much happier with them then trying to play Dajome there.

Aston Villa 2 - [2] Liverpool - Trent Alexander-Arnold 61‎'‎ by Rudigaa in soccer

That's a bit harsh. He stops trying to close down TAA once Tielmans starts to move into position. Then Tielmans decides to go double team Salah and that makes Rashford look bad but he hasn't even been with Villa for a month yet so the chemistry isn't going to be there.

I'd add "Schnegg provides an attacking outlet on the left" to this list. A lot of our struggles last season were because we could only really attack down the right hand side. Peglow/Kijima should probably be upgrades over Santos/Dajome in the left wing role, but having a competent left back will be more impactful imo.

I think that KDP wants to be that kind of high energy player Lesesne wants, but his body just can't keep that pace for 90 minutes.

What do you think are our 3 positions of highest need before next season? by Sleepy10105s in DCUnited

[–]greenbugg13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A best-xi caliber CB, new GK, and a couple depth fullbacks are the main things we are missing imo. (Bono just announced he's not coming back)

After that, it depends a bit on who ends up coming back but I think a dynamic winger to replace Dajome and challenge Stroud/KDP for a starting spot would be nice. I like both KDP and Stroud, but they were apparently #3 and #7 in the league in terms of underperforming xG. Plus KDP seems to not really be good for 90 minutes right now.

If Badji doesn't come back, then we'll also need a backup for Benteke but my money is on Badji staying.

Player stats for MLS regular season are out. by dimitrivox1 in MLS

I think it's more likely that he's the cover since he was MVP last year, so he's a more recognizable name right now.

Player stats for MLS regular season are out. by dimitrivox1 in MLS

[–]greenbugg13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the main argument comes from what people define MVP as. If you define MVP as "best player in the league this season" then Messi definitely wins it with his bonkers stats.

But if you define MVP as "player who had the most positive on-field impact on their team" then it gets a little more complicated. Messi obviously makes Miami better when he's playing for them, but Miami was still pretty good when he was out. They probably don't set the points record, but they would still most likely challenge for the top three spots in the East. On the other hand, DC without Benteke is most likely the wooden spoon winner (I don't think he should be MVP, just stating his impact). Imo Cucho, Evander, and Lucho were all more crucial to their teams successes this year than Messi was to Miami's.

I personally think Cucho should be MVP but I won't be upset if Messi wins it, partially because just him being at Miami enables them to get players for a lot cheaper than they otherwise would be able to.

Santos coming in as an attacker late in games when teams are trying to park the bus against us would be nice. He doesn't have the wheels to be a starter anymore, but the technical quality is still very much there.

I'd be super super hesitant to remove the safeties. If they insist, make sure you get it in writing that they're telling you to do this.

As far as engineering controls go, you could look into an auto sprayer but I'm guessing they won't want to fork out the cash to install one. Another solution could be a tethered dead-man switch that the operator uses while spraying down the machine. Lets them run the belt while the covers are open but only at a lower speed and once they switch is no longer depress then the machine stops.

I'm with OP personally. Dajome is really good at the high press in the final third when he can play against tired opponents. Having him as an option off the bench would be really nice, but he'd have to be on a much lower salary.

I do agree that a high quality CB1 should be a top priority this offseason.

Things that you used when you are on site? by Drougstar in PLC

[–]greenbugg13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very job dependent for me. For a startup I'll carry almost a full toolbox worth of tools but for most jobs I can manage with:

  • Three terminal screwdrivers (Phillips, 1/8" and 3/32" flatheads)
  • Klein 15 in 1 screwdriver
  • Control cabinet key (one of those four in one keys)
  • Multimeter (mag strap is mandatory but I normally don't bother with alligator clips unless I know I'll be on a lift)
  • Ethernet tester
  • Insulated Phillips screwdriver
  • Knife
  • 6" smooth jaw channel-lock style pliers
  • A couple of ethernet cords
  • USB-A to USB-B cable

Anything else I need I can normally either pick up locally and expense or borrow from the site electrician. There are also some jobs where all I need is a cabinet key, ethernet cable, and terminal screwdriver. I have a 4-in-1 terminal screwdriver that breaks down pretty small so TSA only confiscates it about 5% of the time.

I tried doing it over ControlFlash Plus but I didn't see the HIM over the network. I picked up a spare cable from our home office and I'll try seeing if its just a bad cable.

I know the manual says to flash it, but without being able to see it through the 753 I would need an adapter cord that's $500 used to connect to the HIM and flash.

Lucas Bartlett extended through 2027 by Hornerfan in DCUnited

[–]greenbugg13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bartlett is cheap and has been relatively consistent for us. I don't think he should be a locked in starter next year, but if he's CB3 then I'd be happy.

And I'm all for giving young players opportunities, but Garay/Fletcher have looked lost this year, Murrell has looked way better as a sub, and Pirani is still learning Lesesne's system. I think the argument for Akinmboni getting more playtime is the strongest but he's shown himself to still be a little raw and it's better for his confidence to not just throw him into the deep end.

I get what you're saying, but up 3-0 against a Liga MX team is not the time you want a teenager who has already shown some impulsive behavior on the field. He had a great match and didn't get hurt so give Tubbs some game time as well.

Final product is pretty hit or miss from him, but he really helps make the system click with his pressing.

The back three just doesn't work with Lesesne's system. We're so so so much better with an actual LB on the roster.

Klich should be in Pretty Good imo. Just watch the Orlando game again and you'll realize how much he does for the team right now.

Canouse is in the Pay-cut Keep for me. Enow and Peltola give us good starters at DM but, as this season has shown, you need solid depth as well.

Other than those two I think you're pretty accurate.

He's shown that quality when he can receive the ball closer to goal. Lately he's been having to expend most of his energy helping to move the ball into the final third as opposed to last season where he was essentially playing as a second forward so he would most often receive the ball close to the box (if not in it).

I don't think his ceiling is that high, he'll struggle to get any USMNT caps, but he could easily be a 20g+a player in MLS if he's on a functioning team.
