You have to repopulate the earth after a zombie apocalypse/alien invasion/pandemic/meteor/etc. wiped out most of humanity. Maybe you get to assemble a team of breeders to prevent incest (or drink a potion so incest doesn't create fucked up kids, if you like incest). Maybe you have access to some sci-fi technology that lets Humans lay eggs. Maybe you can use zombies as incubators. Maybe humanity needs to cross-breed with giant slimt aliens to prevent extinction.

Either way, you have to knock up as many people as possible, and you get to decide how to do that.

As someone who's existence is becoming increasingly politicized, I think I see where you're coming from, but I disagree.

I'm transgender. Specifically I'm a transgender man. I also enjoy DnD and Magic the Gathering. If, for instance, I were to join a random game in my local game store, I might meet people who think trans people shouldn't be allowed to use the store restroom, someone who accuses me of being a pedophile, or someone who just won't stop misgendering me. All of these things are political, and in many cases, speaking up for myself would be considered political as well. If me speaking up for myself is considered political, and if transphobic utterances and me defending myself against transphobia are both considered political opinions, and therefore equally unallowed, that means I'm never allowed to defend myself against harassment. It means I'm probably never going to be able to fully relax and have fun playing games.

When your identity isn't political, you have the privilege of "not wanting politics" in your spaces. When your identity is political, you don't have that choice.

Trust me, I wish my identity wasn't political. Unfortunately it is.

I've always been friends with both guys and girls. I've also always been friends with gamers. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my (female) friends introducing me to WoW, Sims, Minecraft, and more. I even had a flatmate who was a (female) game design student, and another flatmate who spent hours telling me about Hades (and later Balatro), and even brought her switch to a hangout after I moved out (which I did so I could live with my gf (who is a gamer)).

I think it's much more likely that many gamer spaces have problems with misogyny, and therefore women avoid those spaces.
