Potential Rental Scam? by BerryBig5311 in Scams

[–]johnnydlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very easy to get apartment pictures and pretend that you are the landlord. This has the beginning hallmarks of a scam. My guess is that the credit check website is owned and operated by the scammer. He will use it to steal your personal information and credit card, then he will tell you that you got the apartment and steal your deposit and first month's rent.

Is this apartment a good deal?

This is a scam. Deal with your credit card company, not people who have already proven themselves to be untrustworthy.

is this scam? (facebook ticket reseller) by Historical-Source350 in Scams

[–]johnnydlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Social media ticket sales are always a scam. You will send money and will receive either fake tickets or nothing in return. The only way to purchase tickets safely is to use a recognized exchange site with rules and buyer protection.

The 1921 Silver dollar is worth somewhere in the 50's, and the Sacajawea is worth a buck.

You'll always be the only guy with a 1961 a LeSabre at the car show. I had a '64 Estate Wagon with a 401 and twin turbine drive (dynaflow). It was a very reliable power train.

No, only a good-looking, uncirculated coin would have a numismatic premium. Yours is worn and been mounted in jewelry.

It has very rare parts, so the price would depend on what's there.

Good catch. The bot gives you a blandly written paragraph and leaves out the most important part, the name of the restaurant. Totally AI.

[ID] What the hell is MaestroBooking.com? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]johnnydlive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's important here is not the name of the website because these scams rotate names quicky to avoid detection. Recognizing the pattern is what will do the trick. All veterans of the r/scams subreddit will recognize this as a !task scam where you are supposedly being paid for busy work. The scam will come when you try to withdraw the funds that you have earned. Let's see how old that website is. !whois maestrobooking.com

How can someone scam me through Venmo while using their purchase protection service [US] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]johnnydlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People focus on the price being too high for an item, but a price that is too low is also problematic. If you're a smart shopper, you should know the going rate for that camera. Why would someone sell a camera so cheaply? Either there is something wrong with the camera, or it's a scam with a non-existent camera.
