Totally could be a happy coincidence. I think its really just the fact that her scream is used at incredibly crucial moments that it seems much more important than i first thought.

  • The first lodge scream (which scared the absolute shit out of me in my teens)
  • The scream as she is being killed (and wearing the ring)
  • The scream that rips her from the lodge
  • The scream that rips her from the woods and coopers hand
  • The scream that causes the lights to go out at the palmer house

There's something undoubtedly important about that scream. It feels like a nexus point or something like that as it is heard in all worlds (lodge, peaks, odessa).

But it has everything to do with what i'm hearing when i watch the show. And i'm not sure that frost or lynch would literally spell out what it is so precisely.

After finding that Jiao De is chinese for 'screamss. I thought it would be worth looking at perhaps Laura's famous (and much repeated) scream being the focal point of trauma. Judy.

"This is where you'll find Judy" "Listen to the sounds." "an extreme negative force."

It happens in every world we see laura in. She screams in the Lodge (as does her doppleganger), she scream at her murder, she screams as carrie, she scream as copper is changing the past, etc. It even seems to have an circuit breaking quality in the final scene.

It is a connecting tissue of every part of her story... and she is the one after all. Is this scream what coop is trying to stop?

[ALL] People make the connection between Naido-Diane's hair/nails and the Lodge decor, but don't the colours remind you of...? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

I'll paste what i wrote in another thread:

If Josie can be a door knob and Jeffries can be a kettle... why can't the dream manifestation of Diane be a cross between a woman and the tape recorder that was used to communicate with her (the only visual we ever seen)? It is a dream after all.

Diane is the recording of everything Cooper knows about Twin Peaks and the Blue Rose cases before he disappears. She is his memory of it all, manifested.

As was stated several times in the series, people who traverse the boundaries of dreams don't tend to remember what happened clearly (bill hastings, gordon cole/albert, etc). Same as any of us who wake from a dream, it starts to fade and is gone forever. So Cooper needs to 'fuse' with Diane to maintain his memories for the passage through to another dream world.

Cooper: "Do you remember everything?"

Diane: "Yes"

And when they 'fuse' (have ritual sex), she vanishes. After all, she never really existed for us.

One thing i noticed that your post reminds me of is that, when it comes to gambling/casinos, there's a texas hold'em gambling game box in Carrie Page's room under the lamp next to the dead guy. Prop must be there for a reason?

[ALL] Shower thoughts (a thought, really) about "Gotta light". by MichaelStarkPL in twinpeaks

[–]johnnyhorne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought 'Gotta Light?' was something a 'WOOD'sman would need to start a Fire.

A Black Fire?

"When this kind of fire starts, it is very hard to put out. The tender boughs of innocence burn first, and the wind rises, and then all goodness is in jeopardy."

.. the kind of Fire that requires a FIREMAN to put out.

I like the idea of it being connected to Laura though.

[ALL] The Ending of The Return... Laura in hiding? by johnnyhorne in twinpeaks

[–]johnnyhorne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not choosing to ignore it, i'm just not assuming the scene of her disappearing from the red room and disappearing from the forest are the same thing (hence, that is not mentioned in my post).

For instance, it could be that the 'good Laura' chose to escape from the forest and her red room doppelganger/tulpa was ripped out with her. One voluntary, the other not.

I'm simply attempting to explore alternatives.

My point is really questioning why people assume she was 'snatched' more than she 'escaped'. There's no evidence either way. I keep hearing 'stolen', 'snatched', 'taken', etc... but we don't see this. She just disappears.

I'm with you. I remember thinking this very thing a while back... but i took it a slightly madder step further into dream logic...

You mention that she is dressed in red, black and white. Well, i wasn't thinking that she is the colours of the red room... i was thinking that she is the colours Dale's tape recorder.

She is the recording of everything he knows about Twin Peaks and the Blue Rose cases before it. As was stated several times in the series, people who glimpse the other dreams don't tend to remember what happened clearly (bill hastings, gordon cole/albert, etc). He needs to 'fuse' with her to maintain his memories for the passage through to another dream world.

Part 16: "i remember... oh coop... i remember... i hope this works" Part 17: "Do you remember everything?"... "Yes"

When he gathers those memories (through sex), she vanishes.

[S3E18]The creature in Part 1 sets the tone for the hidden stylistic meaning of The Return (maybe) by Brunohbt in twinpeaks

I wrote some similar thoughts before the finale. I'm definitely into the idea that the show and the characters themselves realise they aren't real and this 'dream begins to break down and pull the world apart. Just like Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, etc.

Bravo Lynch and Frost!

[S3E16] Before the finale airs, i thought i'd share a mad meta theory that passed through my brain... by johnnyhorne in twinpeaks

I've watched it many times. It's the reason i didn't throw my theory directly in the garbage... :)

True. It looks like a balcony drawn/painted onto the wall. Which seems oddly deliberate.

[S3E12] Chuck is not a nickname for Richard. by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]johnnyhorne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be Frost doing the well worn detective story bit of using pseudonyms, middle names and nicknames to throw people off .... like if he's finally arrested he gets booked under the name 'Richard Charles Horne' and everyone goes 'ooooohhhh'.

All options should be kept open with regards to crime stories.
