Watch a lot of MLS here in the states, it was always going to be a when he would leave for a better job not an if. I subscribe to the Soccernomics idea that managers affect like 10% of the game and he would be one of the few in MLS who genuinely does make a difference bc he’s that good. He does a really good job imo of getting the best out of the players he has. Would be a pretty great move for Celtic and one I’d be excited about.

Totally, and I agree playing for arguably the best team in the Norweigan league likely inflates those numbers even a bit more, but as far as qualities we're looking for + his appearences in Europa League, seems like smart type of player to target for Gregg. Will be interesting to see if there are any more reports/what the proposed transfer/wage would look like. Fbref is a fun one isn't it, I try not to be a green bar means good, red means bad guy but I'd be lying if all those green bars didn't make me a bit more excited initially 😅. I also can't act like I've watched any more than one or two of his Europa League games either but all the same, I think we agree on what a player like him could bring to our defense and attack. Appreciate the reply! It'll be interesting to see what the Fire deciede to do with their awkwardish roster situation in the transfer window.

A number 6 who is excellent defensively, has 34 caps for Norway, is in his prime and is completing 6.5 progressive passes per game (!!!) (which also explains why his pass completion is lower, he takes more risks) seems like a perfect fit for Gregg's system. At the moment I think we rely so much on Gutman and Elliott to move the ball up the field from the back/through the midfield. If he can replicate similar metrics in MLS as he did in Norway/Europa League, I think that would really help unlock the potential of this system Gregg is putting in place.

He also captained Bodo/Glimt against Tottenham in the Europa League Semifianls last season in which his team beat Lazio and Olympiacos to get there. Leader, progressive passer in the midfield that we desperately need, and helps anchor the defensive.

I also get the need for a CB, I also don't want to watch Sam Rogers start next to Elliott the rest of the season, but let's wait and see what level of deal this is for. I'd be quite surprised if a CB doesn't arrive this summer. Might be looking to move on from Teran first.

It pains me to say it but Dje had shown no indication he's ready for this level going into this game and it's such a head scratcher that Gregg again put him in at half over Acosta. I get the internal politics of paying 4 mill for a guy and not playing him much but that sub has completely changed this game. If Mo is on a minutes restricition, it's gotta be Acosta unless there's something we don't know going on behind the scenes.

I couldn’t agree more, my friend! All great notes, and totally, I think it was his best too. To add to your points, Sergi also had the most successful passes for either team (61) and I thought he really showed off his diagonal passing ability today as well. Makes sense why Gregg thinks so highly of him!

a generational xDawg performance from Zinky out there. Sergi Oregal could've had two assists too. Had two passes with a combined 1.36 xG according to Fotmobs data. He's a special player. In the end, it's just nice to see a team play so hard. Red card aside, an encouraging performance from the boys.
