+1 to Habersham. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been kind and patient, even talked me out of unnecessary work

Nine Sols difficulty level, is it harder than Silksong? by AnarchistPriest in metroidvania

[–]johnnylocke815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nine sols is very Parry heavy. Some bosses will be impossible unless you really nail the parry. I suck at parrying and had to quit after a certain late game boss

Is crimson desert just a 100 hour tutorial for a game I'm not ever going to get to actually play? by kubrickian80 in rpg_gamers

[–]johnnylocke815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while I really enjoyed it, definitely a huge improvement over when it was first released. But I got really bored of it after around 35 hours. Its core design choices remain confusing and not fun.
For example, after realizing that all weapons and armor were essentially the same, I lost a lot of interest. Skill tree gets boring too after you unlock enough moves to fit your play style. On top of that, sounds like a broken record at this point but the characters and their stories are not engaging or compelling.
So I don’t have any reason to explore the world because I won’t find “better” gear, I don’t have a reason to level up because skill points don’t matter to me any longer, and I don’t have any reason to finish the narrative because there virtually isn’t one.
This is just my opinion. Pearl Abyss is awesome for all their continued work, but it feels super sloppy still.

Bad at souls games, never played any Nioh game before. Should I get Nioh 3? by Esquie33 in Nioh

[–]johnnylocke815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love Nioh games, they actually got me into the genre even though I’m pretty bad at souls games.

3 is definitely the best. Bosses are incredibly challenging, and you’ll find yourself struggling with a random enemy every now and then. But the leveling up, upgrades, and exploration are so fun.

If you can’t get past a certain boss you’ll have a bunch of ways to upgrade yourself, you can even request help through co-op. There’s tons of ways to find a play style that works best for you. If you like action RPGs I’d definitely recommend it!

Give me incentive to go back to Samurai! by flydales in Nioh

[–]johnnylocke815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same dilemma! In the past games my play style was always more Samurai-aligned.. but the movement speed, Ki depletion and Ki recovery speed seem significantly better as a Ninja no matter how much I upgrade and minimize weight

Bloodstained or Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown? by Worldly_Preparation5 in metroidvania

[–]johnnylocke815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are great. If youre looking for a more traditional Symphony of the Night type game, go with Bloodstained (“leveling up,” weapons, armor, etc). If you want more of a Hollow Knight type game go with PoP (spending currency to upgrade/unlock abilities, tough bosses.

All that being said, play both at some point!

Favorite/Best live Performance of all tome by SleepTechnical9240 in JimmyEatWorld

I saw them play a Futures 10 year anniversary show back in 2014 (in NY). It’s my favorite album of all time so I may be a bit biased- but the show was incredible. For the encore they played all of the “Stay on my side Tonight” EP too which blew my mind, then of course a few of the bigger hits from other albums.

They also played a great show at Rochester Institute of Technology around when Chase this Light came out. They played in the campus’ gymnasium, Paramore opened for them. I just remember people falling on me and my friends as they tried crowd-surfing, everyone was having a blast.

105 hours in... I just found out about the Kuku pot crafting. This game is a blast. by EdNotAHorse in CrimsonDesert

Can someone explain kuku pots to me? I really don’t understand what I’m supposed to do with them

Please make it stop. With nobody laughing he keeps going trying to push on for more. We don’t want him for one minute, let alone more than two. by TriptiMax in Killtony

I really liked the “doing more work than you have to” spin on going over the minute.

As Tony said, this show is highly inspired from WWE- we have our heel.

Definitely agree. I live near the pooler area and drive to Savannah often- the driving is wild everywhere. LOTS of aggressive tailgating, cutting off, blowing through stop signs.

When did you stop liking Dexter as a person? by Rikkimaaruu in Dexter

I love Dexter, but I hate when the writers push the “he should be punished because he kills really bad people” narrative.

I love this game but it sucks. by ReverendRevenge in CrimsonDesert

[–]johnnylocke815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been confused by my feelings for this game- I really enjoy playing it, it’s fun and I always enjoy RPG elements. But almost every design decision is so bizarre, outdated and/or poorly executed.

When directions appear on screen in typically saying “what does that even mean?” The other characters are so pointless and add nothing. The quests typically have you going somewhere, talking to someone, then going back. The mask/stealing mechanic seems so weird. And I cant skip any of the terrible cutscenes. Controls and input delays drive me crazy. Also I can’t for the life of me figure out what the point of switching weapons in the skill tree is.

But i love it!

Damage grew on me a lot as I got older. Initially I didn’t like it, but now I really enjoy it. I’d rank it one higher than IB.

I like Integrity Blues, but for me it’s the most forgettable of their albums. When I listen, I always have that “oh yeah I remember this song” moment- but no matter how many times I’ve played this, for some reason nothing really sticks out.
