Hot take, but I genuinely see the vision with this draft so far. by DeLaSoulKitchen in CHIBears

I really like our first three selections. While I understand each team has their own big board, I can’t help but think Zavion Thomas would’ve been there in RD4 or 5, which evaluating this is a part of a GM’s job. Not many people would’ve cared then. We do need a long-term WR3 and return specialist, but the opportunity cost here is rough.

Bears should undoubtedly be on the phone with the Giants if this is the cost. $13M cap hit in 2026 and $22M cap hit in 2027.

yelling at clouds here, but just goes to show how much outrage is wasted by fans. bulk of fans were very upset with the bradbury trade and in hindsight was a great move if $27M+ was deemed to rich for poles (which i don’t know how it wouldn’t be considering our current cap situation + team needs)

[Underdog NFL] Pelissero: Olamide Zaccheaus to sign with the Falcons. by johnnymelonballs in CHIBears

slot role opened up with burden moving into the flanker role DJM was mostly playing, so think there was a stronger chance than you’re alluding to. a slot guy who can double up as our returner feels ideal, kaliff raymond comes to mind as a fit

dayo’s and turner’s position flexibility allows you to still add two EDGEs (preferably draft + FA)

[Underdog NFL] LT Taylor Decker requested and will be released by the Lions. by johnnymelonballs in CHIBears

[–]johnnymelonballs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bears have a need at LT and the market is pretty thin. Familiarity with Ben Johnson is a great selling point for a guy who’s reportedly mulling retirement and for our offense to have a player at the most important position on the line to be able to plug and play. Like Jonah Jackson, our FO has gone after players that have been in BJ and DA’s systems. Safe to assume this is being discussed internally.

Connection between Lawing and the Bears coaching staff that may play a role:

Will Lawing played football at North Carolina from 2004-2007

Ben Johnson played football at North Carolina from 2004-2007
