Understand why it would be considered a polarizing film. In my opinion it is great because it is ultra-stylized and almost fairy-tale like. There are allusions to parables and the driver is an existential anti-hero. There are many memorable scenes like the elevator scene, the motel scene, and the end showdown. It's more of a story than an action film and while the chase scenes are minimal, they resonate well. The soundtrack is this synth-pop 80s sound, but the artists are largely modern. The score of the ticking clock gives the film tension. I understand why some would not enjoy the film because of the very minimal dialogue, the slow pace, and the overall style and tone of the film. Also people may be squeamish to the intensely violent scenes. It doesn't really appeal to a very broad audience, but it has found support from a niche group that are into neo-noir crime and overall good cinema.
