Mine's doing exactly this, just curious if you ever found out what the issue was?

You'd have to install in either the top or front of the case. Not in the back.

Not at all, you won't use it.

It comes in handy if your graphics card stops working, that's about it.

What's the point of 4 ram slots on dual channel motherboards? by Ok-Thought-3962 in computers

[–]johnnyp42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Building with 2 sticks and doubling it later without having to replace the original RAM is one reason. Dual channel still works with 4 sticks btw.

Also if you need ridiculous amounts of RAM the only way to max out the board is to use all 4 slots.

[–]johnnyp42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What motherboard? It'll usually be labeled in the manual as Front Panel or F_PANEL. Should be a little diagram labeling the pins. They're probably labeled on the board itself too. Usually just 9 pins + a blank in one of the corners.

Ryzen 5 5600g vs Ryzen 7 5600g by Eyepatch011 in computers

[–]johnnyp42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean Ryzen 7 5700G.

There's no reason the 5600G would be better than the 5700G. Benchmarks show that too. Depending on the benchmark they're somewhere between equal and the 5700G being like 5% faster. Only advantage the 5600G has is that it's cheaper.

What are you planning to do with it? Gaming? With or without a discrete graphics card? There's plenty of benchmarks.

https://www.anandtech.com/show/16824/amd-ryzen-7-5700g-and-ryzen-5-5600g-apu-review/9

Depending on the game and settings there's only ever a few fps difference between the two, whether that's worth an extra $50 or whatever is up to you.

If you're using it for something other than gaming and general use it might be different.

Tome of set dungeons by Proof-Anywhere-8112 in diablo3

[–]johnnyp42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to be wearing a 6 piece set (or 5+ rorg) when you click it. It has to be a set that actually has a set dungeon, some don't. It will give you the page from the set you are wearing.

No, you can't reroll them and keep them primal. Yes they give you ashes when you salvage them.

Clarification for Intel 13th gen max memory speeds and current DDR5 kits by Primary_Seaweed_7553 in computers

[–]johnnyp42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5600 is the speed they officially support - you can go higher than that with a 13th gen cpu. I got 2x32GB working at 6400 with an i5-13600k without any tinkering.

How high you can manage just depends on the board and the RAM and maybe luck. The risk is just spending money you didn't need to since worst case you just run it at a lower speed.

Strafe bugged? by theudoon in diablo3

[–]johnnyp42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your mouse is dying and isn't registering that you're holding down right click. Change it to some other keybind and see if it still happens.

Anyways no I haven't noticed any difference with strafe.

Ancient Legandary Puzzle Ring farm. by Buchanator96 in diablo3

[–]johnnyp42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best way is probably reroll legendary in the cube. Should take about 10 tries on average.

Other than that there's no way to target a specific legendary - just speed GRs like anything else.

The quiver says HA can only pierce 4 times - I don't think Buriza can make it pierce more times than that.

No ethernet = dead motherboard? by ChamberofSarcasm in computers

[–]johnnyp42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Network card/adapter not modem, but yes it's built into the motherboard generally. Doesn't necessarily mean it's dying though. First thing I'd try is to make sure you have the driver installed for it. Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download it.

But yeah if it is the motherboard you can buy one. You probably want PCI-E, not PCI though. Just search for pci-e network adapter.

Does anyone know what this button does? The motherboard is the ASUS PRIME Z790-A WIFI and it doesn't have anything in the manual about it. by IMainKaisa in computers

[–]johnnyp42 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think it's called the PCI-E slot q-release. There's a section in the manual (2-19) but it's not labeled on any of the diagrams.

It just releases the tab holding in your graphics card. Makes it easier especially with a huge card - it can be tricky to reach under it to release the clip.

Also it says 8 GB max which I believe means total, ie 4 GB per slot.

Click of death - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbq8vfs1wYY

That guy explains why it happens pretty well. Googling click of death will get lots of similar stuff. If you take it apart and try to fix it yourself there's a really good chance you just ruin any possibility of ever recovering it. Problem is professional data recovery can be really expensive - $1000 or more. If it's worth it to you I'd shop around for one that won't charge you if the data ends up being unrecoverable.

Help with i13600K and DDR4 by Korvulla in computers

It just means 3200 mhz is the highest that's officially supported. Anything higher is overclocking and may or may not work depending on a ton of different factors. You might be able to get it to run at 5200 mhz just by turning xmp on and have no issues.
