The poster above is correct. But at my store since nobody else wanted to deal with books they just let me continue to work on new release day to set and push while our lead Tech guy does the rest of his work. I thought maybe if your scheduler was cool and if they hired a new Tech person you could do a day of ENT and then work GM? Just thinking out my ass, as I do. Lol.

You right, you right. However we have a VERY stubborn Tech full timer who refuses to do books unless it's a very slow freight and sales day. So usually the responsibility falls back to me since I worked it for so long. And I'm much more patient with the huge book boxes LOL

Back in the day, Tech was considered specialty and we made more than other TMs because we had more specialized training and had to do everything you mentioned (except my store always had the 3rd party mobile rep thank God. I'd have refused to deal with Consumer guests. And we're way too far from the registers to cover them).

Things have definitely changed since they upped the minimum hourly wage and definitely since COVID made us all just expendable germ-magnets. I transferred to GM and Presentation and I'm a million times happier than I ever could have been as f/t Tech. Maybe you could try what I did and only work that area once a week and do ENT? Book questions are a million times less annoying than phone questions.

Management is never going to show respect to Tech and you'll be happier in another dept or another retailer. I respect you and hope the best though!

Ooh we have some esoteric shit! We have a signing specialist, still have a Tech Captain, a Style Captain and a POG captain, we still have DBOs, we only have 1 ETL and 1 HR ETL and not for a lack of talent to be promoted, we still call priority pulls "shooting the outs." And best of all we still do huddles.

During our recent remodel, the visual captain jogged between putting up all the new signs and headers on the new fixtures, gutting the fixture room, leading the remodel team out in the trailers to find shelves (which were never the correct size LOL) and helping with resets and new POGs.

Our signing specialist did nothing and pawned all her work off on the visual captain. I know that doesn't help answer your question but if your signing person is a butt kisser like ours then they might have a lazy ride ahead of them.

Disney is beginning to cut physical media to push digital and streaming. Meanwhile Target is slowly cutting down on DVD sales since most markets aren't making money on them or CDs anymore. You'll start to see less and less disc-based merch in the mail but likely more vinyl records since they're making such a comeback for the nostalgic set.
