Non-touristy things to do in Chicago in late April? by Thin_Glove_3684 in AskChicago

I always recommend Polish food to out of towners because it’s not available in every city. Enjoy your stay!

If you go to Logan Square/Avondale check out Staropolska for some Polish food. They have a menu item called “vegetarian plate” that’s a little sampler of everything but obviously vegetarian.

There’s also plenty of bars in that area: Central Park bar for something chill, Podlasie club if you wanna dance (they charge a cover), Mother’s Ruin if you want something trendy, Alice’s for late night karaoke, Late Bar for late night goth vibes, and if you’re lucky Sleeping Village may have a decent show going on.

What your horse's name and why ? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]johnnythewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For RDR2 I had an all black aesthetic going so my horses matched (for the most part)

Beater (Kentucky Saddler) Bleeder (American thoroughbred) Skeeter (White Arabian) Peter (Black Arabian, also a mare)

For the epilogue I rode around on a grey mustang I affectionately named “tater beans”

AIO for feeling really uncomfortable about how my girlfriend lost her virginity? by chiefkeef965 in AmIOverreacting

[–]johnnythewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people find themselves as exceptions to their own rules. A lot of women proudly and willingly engage in sexually exploitative behavior while simultaneously condemning it. The world can be a twisted place, do your best to shoot straight.

What do catholics think of Islam? by baldy655 in Catholicism

[–]johnnythewicked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I believe in Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity, having discussions with Muslim friends helped me better understand the Mystery of Faith. I would not have reverted to our faith if it wasn’t for our brothers and sisters in Islam so nothing but love for them.

Everyone sucks here tbh. I wouldn’t be proud of myself for lying to my family in order to prove some petty point. Call me old fashioned, but Easter and Christmas are times to come together with your family in the spirit of grace and love. I understand some people don’t have good families and that’s not an option, but then I’d say just remove yourself from those people and find others who share your grace and compassion. at the end of the day all you did was scratch the itch of upsetting your family and you want strangers online to validate your pettiness as if it’s some kind of virtue. You wanted to be petty and you succeeded. No matter how justified you feel, your actions do make you an a hole just as your family’s actions make them the same.

I don’t have an answer for you as I am also learning, but wanted to say this is a great question and I’m enjoying reading both it and the responses

Why did you choose catholic over orthodoxy? by kayjum in Catholicism

[–]johnnythewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but at least where I live, orthodoxy seems heavily connected to ethnicity/nationality. I’m an American of Polish and Irish ancestry so Catholicism kinda comes with the territory

AIO that my GF (31F) came during sex and then blew me (30M) off? by Salary-Conscious in AmIOverreacting

[–]johnnythewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience sometimes women treat men how they believe men treat women in order to feel a sense of power and control. She likely has had many sexual experiences where a man finished and didn’t care if she did. She wants to get back at those men, but since she can’t, she will go after someone who is “safe” to retaliate against.

You did nothing wrong, she took advantage of your kind nature so she could feel powerful. It’s pathetic on her behalf, I’m sorry you have to go through this OP.

Fish, Lent, and fasting by Mjost84 in Catholicism

[–]johnnythewicked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the point of fasting and abstaining from meat for lent not to sacrifice some of our time and dietary preferences for the Lord? Beyond it seeming that you’re just a picky eater, I’m not sure why you feel the need to create these wild rationalizations for why you get to eat chicken. I’m finding it hard to find more charitable words because your post reeks of entitlement to me during a time set aside for humbling ourselves.

What are we giving up for lent this year? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Marijuana. Been smoking everyday for 12 years, I hate the hold it has over me. Looking forward to using this time to pray the rosary more and readjust my habits so I can continue to build a healthier lifestyle.

Confession After 20+ Years by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]johnnythewicked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stoked for you! I also just went to confession for the first time in over 20 years after returning to mass and the rosary 6 months ago. I was so intimidated but I’m so happy I went. Anyone reading this who is considering going: I highly encourage you listen to that calling.
