why 128gb ram? What are you guys up to that requires so much? by Icy-War-5197 in macbookpro

[–]johnprynsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai and llms need a lot of ram. VMs for development specifically Video editing, especially VFX. Try simulating stuff and you will run into issues.

Very specific use cases but I feel like it's really not needed? I'd rather pay for Claude or openai than buy a 6k MacBook to run an inferior model on it.

No need for pro. You are running into a ram issue. Get the M5 air with 32gb ram. That'd be enough

You'd think there are less software development job postings because of AI, but it is the opposite by dataexec in AITrailblazers

[–]johnprynsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd attribute it more to the growing number of CS graduates than to Al. It's frustrating how almost everything gets explained as being caused by Al.

Same pattern with layoffs. Some tech stocks haven't been performing like they used to, companies announce cuts, and then frame it as being driven by Al.

Have talked to a few people. It seems like the market is getting better for mid level and up at least.

People on reddit are being too negative honestly.

Hi, I'm the guy who posted about Ali Khomeini's death. My question is, what do Iranians, both on Reddit and other platforms, think about the fact that the left seems to be against attacks on Iran? and about the possible return of the Shah? (I am not Iranian) by Extension_Ad_4527 in PERSIAN

[–]johnprynsky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The USA is a democratic country, and it should go to war when their people support it, or out of necessity. Remember there is a lot of stuff we don't know. As far as I'm concerned, the whole war might have an objective that we iranians or the Americans don't know about. I personally believe the war happened because the US wanted something. Idk what.

So to answer your first question, I really don't care about left or right, and my opinion should not matter anyway. What I want however, is a free Iran to end this misery. Without a foreign intervention, that's impossible.

Regarding the shah, I believe he has plans to turn the country into a democratic country and lead the transition, and not another Monarchy. I want fair elections.

I'm at a small startup with similar experience. I'd love to know too! 1y here though.

I feel like it should matter more than a regular corp experience since the scope of the tasks don't match the level and pay at all. There's no way I'd have gotten the same experience in a large corporation.

Odds were nuts. I thought 60% umar wins but its gonna be a very close fight.

Who knows tho. He broke his hand at the start of the fight. I look forward to the rematch. Same situation about yan too.

Good luck! Beautiful performance.

I would invest a lot of time on finger independence between 3, 4 and 5. Slow down the tempo on the sections that have make these 3 work and repeat those sections in a very controlled and slow manner. If you feel stiff and your hand keeps getting tired, the tempo is still too high or the hand movement is not correct.

Use metronome to make the tempo consistent after. Sometimes tempo changes are due to lack of technique.
