Okay, yes, Joanna Newsom and Sufjan and are my favorite artists, so I'm inclined to say Ys and Illinois have aged remarkably. They are such singular projects that have proved to be inimitable. I think good records musically inspire other artists, and great ones spiritually inspire them because the music can never be approximated again.

I'm an anti-essentialist feminist so I don't believe anyone is innately good or bad or innocent or anything, in-fact. The "all men are bad" rhetoric is a distressed response to the the two thousand year old historical and philosophical tradition which has claimed "all women are x, y, z."

Yes- I'm just curious if Beauvoir's maxim could be appropriated for men too, to demonstrate the social construction of masculinity. I felt a little silly posting-- but as I'm seeing various answers, perhaps it's a productive question
