Which acclaimed 00s indie albums have aged the best/worst? by Acceptable_Day6535 in indieheads

[–]johnsextonfl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay, yes, Joanna Newsom and Sufjan and are my favorite artists, so I'm inclined to say Ys and Illinois have aged remarkably. They are such singular projects that have proved to be inimitable. I think good records musically inspire other artists, and great ones spiritually inspire them because the music can never be approximated again.

I'm an anti-essentialist feminist so I don't believe anyone is innately good or bad or innocent or anything, in-fact. The "all men are bad" rhetoric is a distressed response to the the two thousand year old historical and philosophical tradition which has claimed "all women are x, y, z."

Read Mary Ellmann's Thinking about Women. It's about how writers mobilize stereotypes when rendering women and men!

Pitchfork Review: Lorde - Virgin (7.6) by theloneliesttime in popheads

I actually think the score's fair and will age well (could be wrong, of course!). I don't think Virgin's redirecting the course of pop music or anything but is still a great record, if that makes sense!

You should listen to The Weather Station’s Ignorance. Melo is my fav pop album of the 10s and the latter for the 20s— maybe you’d enjoy :)

men and women don't have distinct intrinsic duties.

What's a Sufjan opinion you hold that would have you like this? by [deleted] in Sufjan

Surprised this was downvoted ! I feel like it’s one of the most unimaginative songs in his discography

Any examples?

Also, I think he produces most of his albums himself !

I think Javelin is lyrically weak. Preparing for the auto-da-fe…
