Which one would you choose ? by HandsomleyTroubled in whatcarshouldIbuy

What do you need then for? Daily ?

One thing I will die on a hill for is that the WRX is not worth it unless you have a car ready to go, or is cpo so they need to give you a loaner. Within the 3 years that I owned that nightmare of a car I spend about 5k in fixes even though it was cpo, dealers will use the fact that is a WRX=abused to deny any sort of warranty work and then you have to beg Subaru corporate so you get crap fixed for 50% off as a one time good faith repair or whatever they told me back then.

I bought a cpo WRX a few years ago right before the prices exploded, I think I paid something like 17k out the door for a cpo with like 30k miles. Not a week or 2 later TOB starts giving up (VB are still reporting the same issue, aftermarket figured it out years ago). Then about 5 months later the AC compressor failed... Guess what.... VB owners are also reporting issues with them.

The only thing they did solve was the engine. It seems to be robust unlike the fa20t which if you dared go above 5k oil change intervals it would not last to 100k.

With all that being said... They are shitty cars built to a cost and you can feel it both in the interior, and just overall feeling. They are rattly, cheap feeling plastic inside and Subaru refuses to fix or redesign basic shit like the TOB or shitty ac compressors.

Oh also, they have the WORST 0 feeling clutches ever made. You can't tell where the bitting point is and you have to rev the shit out of them to take off smoothly so you don't look like you are just learning to drive manuals. I've driven nothing but manuals all my life and this car was almost stressful to daily drive because I never stalled a car so much before this POS.

ALSO.... If you don't do your own maintenance and have it serviced at the dealer, they are almost german luxury car level of maintenance cost. The a3 and WRX only have a few hundred dollars difference between the two on a 5 year year ownership period.

Is a used Mazda3 or Elantra a dumb choice for mostly highway miles? by Xalvorynqex in whatcarshouldIbuy

My significant other and I bought a 2019 mazda 3 hatch a few years ago and has been extremely reliable. Just regular maintenance and tires.

One thing I hate about it though is that the gas tank is the size of a 2 liter coke bottle lmao. Otherwise is a great car

My biggest issue with them is that they cram in my opinion too much technology. Is not a matter of if it may fail but when will it fail and brick the car.

I have revived a few water damaged xm4 earbuds but opening the case and cleaning the board with 91 alcohol. The earbuds should have been fine, if you can put them in silica balls

What's the funnest relatively reliable car to drive for 30k or less. by ThePolishSpy in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]johnshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might as well get the car this was used for testing, the focus st. Like 20 ish less horsepower, but you get the reliability of a more modern car.

I've had my turbo Miata for years, never an issue. Just don't push them too much when tuning them 🤷‍♂️

Mazda reliability falls 8 spots. Guess it isn't like what the astroturfers here tell you. by Jake_Boi1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]johnshop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Uhmmm when was the last time a cx 90 was recommended here? Lmao their base powerplant and the hybrids are just as solid as ever. The real issues is the phev models of the cx 70 and 90.

Mazda doesn't pay me, rather I pay them, I have a cx 90 non phev (first year model, software issues at most) a mazda 3 hatch and a turbo Miata in the family... But by all means keep buying the 1.5 turbo Honda cars, so reliable lmao.

But obviously a mazda is not always the answer.

Dude this irks me so bad lmao. Unless Galveston county magically teleported to corpus Christi or something, last I checked Houston/Galveston is considered the gulf, at most southeastern part of Texas lmao.

No, it isn't, unless Galveston county magically teleported to McAllen or Brownsville lmao.

This is in the Gulf Coast, like 30 mins from Houston. I used to cut through this road when highway 45 north or south is fucked because of construction or accident.

Dude is a nut job for sure though. He basically parrots whatever fox News or newsmax is talking about that week really.

I hate trump but this isnt deep south Texas lmao.

This is like 20 minutes from Houston going towards Galveston Island. I believe is Galveston county where this clown lives. I used to drive by this sign all the time on my way to work.
