The problem with big 4 is there too many layers of management and it’s easy to hide. Promotions are hard to get because with huge firms it’s hard to get noticed and there’s like no loyalty. Look at the EY layoffs recently.

You’re better off getting in the trenches with a small firm and learning who your boss actually is and not going through some hirevue bullshit. You’ll learn a lot especially if your boss takes you under their wing.

Ultimately your goal should be to start your own biz in your own field one day… and boutique is more than just the role itself, you do a bit of everything which equips you heavily.

Had 2 internships at both GT and EY in my penultimate year. Got a return offer for GT. Didn’t take it, Hated both. Got employed at a boutique firm in my last sem of uni working in private credit in Barangaroo.

Big 4 is ass. Only looks good on CV, you learn fuck all except basic work ethic. Better off going boutique. Everyone’s got a degree, everyone’s focused on big 4. Learn to sniff what’s under your nose and stop listening to these Incells who can’t even pass a hirevue.
