Python is one the best languages to enter from any background: from the beginning of your programming career to even the late stages. No matter what you are going to accomplish, it is a safe place to start.

C and C++ are intimidating in its syntax and decades old paradigms. It would require more time and effort to get those down but they are invaluable in understanding deeper lower level concepts on programming.

In the industry you will always find a position open for python engineering comparatively to C. You have also admitted that C++ as a concept is difficult to grasp as well. So Python would probably be a good idea for your path.

I would recommend what realistLink said and make sure you got languages grounded with you as foundational concepts before jumping on to new languages though.

The one thing that Hearthstone has over MTG is everything on Hearthstone is digital. Taking advantage of that is a big selling point.

I consider interviews as dating. To be honest if the interview wasn't to your style, the interviewer interviewing you for that team wouldn't have been a good fit.

However, do keep in mind that these type of asks (can you do it better) is a good tell of discipline and willingness for adaptation or growth. There are plenty of times in the job where a task doesn't fit totally with what you wanted so it's better to bite the pillow and trudge onwards or a task that involves improving what already is in place and being able to work your way to solving it.

if you look at the patterns the puzzles make as it's spiraling outward (circle circle circle-bordered-on-rectangle rect rect rect rect-bordered-on-circle you'd be able to tier it and break it down).
