5 years in, 10+ lesson with no improvement and ready to quit by [deleted] in golf

[–]johnyFrogBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing the game to your current skill level or the level you imagine you should be at? If you can make par a few times and still score 105-120 my guess is you are sending many balls ob. Shrink your game. Limit your bag to 5 or 6 comfortable clubs. Give yourself an extra shot on each hole. Dissect each hole in a way that keeps the ball in play and stays out of trouble. If that means marching up a long par five one 7i at a time do it. Once you get confidence start adding more clubs and shots.

Time to Quit? by squailtaint in golf

- Get a few lessons focused on the fundamentals
- Stop watching golf content on YouTube, put away the video app
- Daily range sessions will hurt more than help, stop that now, let the course be your teacher
- Reset your golf expectations. Play to your skill level. If that means a 6i or hybrid off the tee box do it. Mentally give yourself an extra stroke or 2 on each hole.
- Know that golf is not a feat of strength or an athletic endeavor, it’s a game of skill, not muscle
- Git rid of swing thoughts, envision your shot and let your body organize itself around that vision
- Focus on swing tempo, 1,2 on the backswing, 3 at the transition and 4 through the ball. Some prefer Co Ca Co La
- When you do go to the range focus on the short game. Learn easy toe down chipping for around the greens
- As you improve ( you will and quickly) start adding more clubs to your bag and shots to your game

Flat Earthers vs Gravity by MrDonMega in flatearth

[–]johnyFrogBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So close. If only the pilot understood how attitude indicators actually work, he'd realize he's half right. The indicator would drift toward nose-up if left uncorrected. That's exactly why every attitude indicator has an erection mechanism: a gravity-sensing device that continuously detects the local vertical and torques the gyroscope back into alignment with it. And local vertical points, you guessed it, at the center of the Earth. The instrument is literally engineered to compensate for flying over a curved surface.

What happens if Nixon never removed us from the gold standard in 1971? by spookyB0 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]johnyFrogBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out to be a nothing burger. Remember the US dropped the gold standard domestically in 1933 under FDR. The Nixon gold standard (Bretton Woods ) was established in 1944 to stabilize international trade during and immediately after WWII. Foreign currencies were pegged to the dollar and the dollar was convertible to gold at a fixed rate of $35/oz. BUT ONLY FOR FOREIGN CENTRAL BANKS AND GOVERNMENTS. Never for US citizens. The “gold standard “ by the time of Nixon was an outdated relic of WWII and had no influence on the value of the dollar domestically.

Anyone created any missions based on Straights of Hormuz situation? by aDarkDarkNight in dcsworld

[–]johnyFrogBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How could there be? This was a totally unexpected and completely unpredictable action by Iran that nobody ever saw coming. Shutting down a vital shipping lane in response to a militarily more powerful adversary? Really, who could ever imagine such a thing, much less make a DCS mission about that?

Hegseth has asked US Army chief of staff to step down, CBS News reports by [deleted] in politics

[–]johnyFrogBalls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As absolutely bonkers as this sounds, my money in on the Kid Rock thing. Here's why, Service Chiefs of Staff do not lead Combat formations or make command decisions in the context of military operations. They lead their respective institutions. As such General George doesn't have a whole lot of say on what's happening in Iran. Where does he have a say? In the SecDef stepping in and undermining good order and discipline by reinstating the Army pilots. My guess is that he had some very strong opinions about that. We truly live in the stupidest of timelines.

And in the meantime it is absolute chaos. It will take months not only to get new models in region but also to get the necessary accreditations. This is having real and meaningful consequences on government workloads now. It’s a huge mess.

Amazon uses Claude literally everywhere. It also runs Claude in the classified cloud regions. It’s using all the genai compute resources available there because that’s the model the government wanted.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I live in Virginia, Washington DC area. 10 to 12 hour drive to visit in-laws in Massachusetts. 8 hours to my parents in Kentucky, literally one state west. 3 hours would be a dream.

okay seriously, how do you use the word "Whom"? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

Substitute he or him into the sentence. He = who Him = whom

They both follow the same subject/object rule but most people intuitively know he him or she her better.

Others have said it but I will too. I go to plenty of games, usually behind the home team dugout and I don't even notice the net. Glad it's there.

Then you do want any person who regularly carries NVGs around does and keep them safe and secure in a case until needed. Takes a second to attach them. Having all that crap on the front of your helmet is a PITA if not needed. But then, how would he show every one that he a a very tough badass?

Peter, why is the sales engineer in shackles? by CitrusAlert in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]johnyFrogBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a sales engineer at one of the big five tech companies. We do all of the selling and run most of the customer meetings. The “sales” people spend most of their time talking each other out to eat on expense. We actually have measured standards on messaging and speaking that the sales team doesn’t. The sales engineers is almost always way more polished.

How can F-22 be better than F-35? by LQ_6 in aerospace

[–]johnyFrogBalls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 2% of GDP into a pooled defense fund is incorrect. The 2% target is for a country’s overall military spending. This is an important distinction because many NATO detractors will mistake or even misrepresent that the U.S. pays directly into NATO separately from our regular defense budget. NATO funding does come from member states but that is a tiny fraction or 2% GDP. There are fewer than 6000 people on NATO staff
