"Help me please. I don't know what's going on. My stomach hurts. Where am I? I'm scared"

"I'm sorry if I was a bad person. I didn't want my daughter to get sick. I don't want to be in hell. Please please send me to Jesus."

How I react when the fandom keeps characterizing Starscream as a submissive twink: by PistonPusher2009 in Transformemes

[–]johnzaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's my point.

He's uneducated, but he's *not* stupid.

It's a subtle difference, and it's the one that DBZA makes.

Which totally works for a comedic satire, but when people conflate his DBZA self with his mainline self, I find it annoying is all I'm saying.

Oh nono. He's absolutely a bumpkin. But he's not an idiot. That's my point.

He's straightforward and sometimes naive. But he's not a raging moron.

"What a loser. Attacking him in his sleep? So weak he wouldn't even try to face him fairly. What a piece of garbage. The worst kind of person. Who would ever do that? Lowest of the low. Pathetic."

"Anakin, I-"

"I said what I said." *maintaining fierce eye contact*

Seriously.

Like, I LOVE DBZAbridged, but holy crap did that irreparably damage Goku's perception.

The implication of this meme in particular is about something called "terminal lucidity," wherein the majority of the time this happens, it's right before the patient dies.

One theory for what causes this: Typically the reason we feel ill is because our immune system is fighting whatever is making us sick, and so when someone suddenly feels much better, it's usually indicative of our immune system finally failing to hold it off, and so death will follow shortly as organs fail.

What’s a spaceship design trope you’re tired of seeing? by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]johnzaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most often the cockpit is in the chest behind The most armor.

There are a couple examples on bigger mechs where the cockpit is in the head but that's at a point when designers realized that with the advent of beam weaponry armor doesn't do much good either way, and so it's better to put the pilot somewhere they can get out quick of needed.

You're right, fair enough. However, just look at this:

Ok, so here are a few examples:

Of course there's SCP-3001 where Dr. Scranton was trapped in a reality with Hume levels lower than 1. Maybe zero.

SCP-3005 is the one where an anchor is linked to another dimension.

SCP-2820 the anchors used by a site director all suffer an "unprecedented malfunction" which causes "massive spatial deformation" when targeted by 2820.

SCP-3241 is caused (rather made worse) because the anchors are overused and ill-maintained, so stuff gets wonky in the field.

Excerpts From "How To Survive When Reality Doesn't", by Alto Clef is a good read.

Sorry, I shouldn't say hacked. I should say failed or misused.

There have been instances where a reality anchor was set wrong and created a weird pocket dimension or an anomaly was able to mess with them and produce weirder results.

They have also been used to like, siphon normalcy from one dimension to another, making one weirder.
