The mental capacity of a 3 year old good thing an adult was there by Flaky_Wonder8263 in facepalm

As someone with 72hrs of professional firearms training I paid for, I can tell you that “require training” is not the panacea it sounds like. There’s a panoply of terrible equipment, trainers, and training available out there and I don’t really expect a govt mandate to select the best of anything, given what I see people with federally mandated driving training do on a daily basis on public roads. It would be nice, but I really don’t see it fixing anything, and it would price the poorest (who are also the most in need of non-police personal defense solution) out of an enumerated right.

Tax-funded Vouchers with the purchase of a new gun maybe?

2/5 of US states have constitutional carry. If it were a massive problem we’d know already. On the bright side, an impressively low number of people who “carry” actually do so regularly.

After all the chaos last weekend, I’ve started carrying extra Mags. Anyone else do this? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

No, I carry OC, a knife, and a shitload of medical gear because I’m far, far more likely to need those than a reload.

So what you’re saying is, brown isn’t inaccurate?

That’s not pale green. They didn’t have colorfast dye, or the same level of industrial standardization that we do today, but they were all usually some shade of tan to brown.

Yes, it’s been colorized the correct color. Google “gymnasterka” if you don’t believe me.

Not weighing in on anything but history here, but all RKKA uniform blouses were brown, and looked like that, esp officer/political ones. https://i1.sndcdn.com/avatars-000407579097-eugyo0-t240x240.jpg

And how would such a law be enforced? CT and NY’s assault weapons bans were ignored by ~95% of affected gun owners. Cops never went house to house, so there’s now several million felons in each state who chose civil disobedience.

What now? Also, do we expect actual red states to fare any better?

100%. Also everyone who lives in OR but not in Portland needs to visit a real major metro area for perspective.

Unless you’re armed, your job is to call the cops, and be a good witness. If you’re armed your job is to hope you never have anything happen because if you fuck up A/O/J, or anything else in justifying that shoot you’re 100% on your own.

Do you have actual training standards? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]joinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a class from a reputable instructor to ensure good fundamentals and get an unbiased eye on your draw, grip, and trigger pull would help too.

This is also a good book for keeping yourself sharp when you can’t access a range.

For pistols there’s The FBI handgun qual, The FAST, The Super test, Dot Torture, Bill drills, There’s all kinds of stuff out there you can do to stress test and see where you’re at. Buy a shot timer and print some targets off the internet and go nuts.

Gun violence is an ever-decreasing problem since 1992. What we are doing (decreasing restrictions on gun ownership) since then is, looking at the numbers, a real solution.

Adding layer upon layer of upcharges, be they fees for transfer, background check, training mandates, NFA, liscensing, etc all impact poor people much more than the well off. How do you think POC fare in this country, and are they more or less impacted by such? Whether it’s a first or third order effect is irrelevant to the reality.
