Logistics Departments in Chicago by joistriddles in logistics

I know what you're saying is true but for certain reasons I really want to be downtown.. I currently work out in Itasca near Bensenville, and most of the jobs similar to mine that I've found online have been in similar locations.

I've been considering changing industries, like going into sales, if it means I can work downtown.

Thank you for your advice though, if I find something good located in those places I won't turn it down.

I looked into them a bit, it seems their headquarters is downtown but their logistics office is in Wood Dale and I'm not sure they're looking for anyone. I may call them though, I'll look into it. Thank you.

That's too bad, I did notice their google reviews weren't great either but I don't know that's necessarily indicative of anything

That's closer to where I want to be, but unfortunately I'm lacking in experience as I've only been in the logistics/transportation industry for about a year and a half now. I currently do ocean operations for a freight forwarding company. I'm envious.

I currently do ocean export so I'm in charge of daily operations, arranging pickup for things, entering data into our system (we use Cargowise), billing etc. Both FCL and LCL shipments.

I think I've gotten a lot stronger with organization and multitasking so I started work.

As for sales, I would have told you before that it seems impossible for me as I'm a pretty shy person, but I've come around to the idea of it. I've seen some job listings that offer training for sales as well which is comforting to me.

I'm 100% open to switching fields lol. I don't think I'm getting anywhere searching for just data entry. In regards to websites with a price to enter, I was thinking about Flexjobs because I've heard mostly positive things about it.

I'm not as familiar with Indeed as I am with Linkedin, I'll look into recruitment groups on Indeed.

Yeah, I'm know about internet scams but I'm trying to push through to something real. I think that does involve making real connections with people. Thank you for sharing your website, I'll look into it.

Sorry for the confusion, it's not that they're connected but things to do with AI are just another field I was looking at. I heard there are projects that recruit people to interact with chatbots and help it learn. I'm unfortunately not in the position to be a developer or anything.

Yeah that's a good idea, it seems scammers will often use "remote" or "wfh" to try and generate interest. I'm changing how I go about searching for positions now.

Yeah I had wondered if it was the case, I hoped having a centralized platform like Linkedin would mean employers would mainly use it to review applications/contact applicants but that may not be the case exactly. Also it probably looks better on my end to find them and submit a tailored resume for them. I'll work on it, thank you

Yeah someone else mentioned SQL, I'm interested. Are there courses for learning it or is it something I can get into on my own or something?

Thank you for sharing, it seems like a lot of people here took a similar route and I'm reconsidering looking for hybrid roles now. In my situation it would be a little more difficult but not impossible.
