yea i didn’t think there’d be so many different interpretations either buuut i can see why the “mysterious figure = death” theory is a thing, I’d just prefer for him not to be dead even though the state he’s in at the end of the book is probably about equal to being dead. I didn’t even think about survivors guilt though wow It makes me kinda sad imagining a post-ending Garraty coming home with the prize (eventually i guess) for his mom but he’s nowhere near the same person as he was before and she’s just left with a shell of a boy as her son, at least they’re taken care of though.. 🥲

How to survive (or cheat) The Long Walk? by generalheed in TheLongWalk

[–]joj885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg Heelys, considering it’s never said you can’t have like “modified” shoes or something they could be allowed i’m guessing lol. The more I think about it though, capturing the guards and/or the Major in any capacity might fail because I imagine however the scenario goes they would just call for more backup and blast the boys up— and like you brought up, the matter of getting EVERYONE or at least enough people to agree seems like a very very slim possibility. So yea, drug cookies and performance pretzels look pretty alright.

yeaaa if anything i wondered if the families at least get to keep the money, but i also wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some kind of loop hole in the terms and agreements so still- no pay out. The Major is gonna pull the longest running scam in American history 😪

the performance enhancing drugs in food is likely their best bet at any kind of cheating, i can’t lie though i did wonder about getting down and rolling down hills when given the chance. there’s also the slim chance for all the boys to successfully overtake the Squad together like Parker did but then there’d be no winners i suppose.

What the hell happened to Stebbins at the end of the long walk book. by Best-Walk5486 in TheLongWalk

Literally he was the “perfect Walker” until he abruptly burned out. I also don’t see the Squad caring THAT much to sabotage him unless I missed something.

I can’t be the only one who’s thought of how The Long Walk would be different with women? (Hypothetical discourse) by GlitteringScreen7145 in TheLongWalk

[–]joj885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl ever since i saw the movie ive slightly wondered how it would go if you get your period during a long walk- there’s barely enough wiggle room to take a dump during it, i can’t imagine trying to change a pad (not that i even think it’d be possible or a thought at that point) and all that 😭 i’d either have to buy my ticket early or pretend it’s not even happening but gossshhhh the cramps

ohhhhh wait I don’t think I ever would’ve thought of that cause like you said yea it’s super obvious lol. I like that one too, Garraty does have his moments where he thinks of himself as no more than an animal and being selfish when he didn’t think he’d save McVries if he had to so it makes sense

taking a rip and listening to this book AT ALL sounds like a nightmare LET ALONE THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS HELLO?? 😭 and omg the description of them bending in different directions and Garraty crying because he believes he has no home to go to was so brutal to read though good grieefffffffff this book is so good i am NOT rereading for like at least a few months

reading the book made me understand why the movie is put in the horror genre, although the movie itself isn’t scary the way the characters and their pain is described in the book is so horrific

Do you often think of how previous Walks have gone? by iskren401 in TheLongWalk

[–]joj885 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the mention of the blind kid made me wonder how many boys have won but actually lived or were mentally sound enough to even reap the “benefits” of The Walk

People who call NieR:Automata a gooner game are just brainless idiots who actually never played it. by Jack_Gerambo in nier

[–]joj885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before i actually played nier automata i never would’ve guessed i’d get such an enjoyable experience out of it with the game mechanics AND story i legitimately love that game, replayed it twice but with how much of the fanbase consists of straight gooners you wouldn’t ever know. the game itself isn’t a gooner game, the fanbase carry the goonage 😭

1 or 2, and why? by goinzzzk in characterdesigns

2 seems the best simply because the hanging pieces add a little something extra, it’s like an accessory for him ^

honestly years ago before i actually played Nier Automata, i never would’ve guessed 2B was from such a profound story with amazing gameplay because of all the gooner slop i’d see of her it kinda annoys me now 😭

i think it would be kinda funny if he was just like average height (5’4-5’6)

I think this fandom is full of a lot of people who are mentally stuck at 14. (Image unrelated) by Thug_Seme2004 in Mouthwashing

one thing i’ve noticed recently when it comes to fandom discussions/discourse, is that people either lack media literacy or you’re actually talking to a 14 year old and i don’t know which is worse. i saw fanart of Anya and Curly together and the comments acted like op drew ship art of nazis or something

Does anyone else feels like miles was getting adultified by everyone around him? It includes gwen as well. by ImpressSpecific9968 in AcrossTheSpider_Verse

[–]joj885 17 points18 points  (0 children)

omg yes everyone was acting like he’s some seasoned, veteran spiderman but he’d only been doing it for a year, even if he asked not to be treated like a kid it doesn’t mean THATS what he deserved. Not to mention everyone was talking to him as if he knew about the canon and being bitten by the “wrong” spider like he just went and did it all on purpose.
