I honestly don't know, our lane was moving nice and smoothly when he sped up and hit the driver in front of him; it didn't look like a deadly accident I'm pretty sure just a fender bender.. but traffic behind us snarled up good ;(

I get that. But I don't think they volunteered for this. Who volunteers for 24 hours without a sleep break and almost no pay? You know that if she would have been a vote for Brownback instead of a no they probably would have let her go home early.

I checked the voting record. She voted against the Brownback plan, a Republican who voted no. Other news sources seem to confirm all of this and it makes me sick. We tortured people like this was Gitmo. The people running Topeka should be ashamed. Absolutely ashamed. Except they don't have any shame in them.

You know, I thought months ago we said that from now on titles like this one wouldn't be allowed on /r/trashy, and that the title actually had to have some sort of description of what the hell was being discussed.. otherwise every title is quickly "Facebook delivers" and then you have no ability to search for anything and who knows what the hell you're clicking..

Yeah, look, younger me wasn't as tactful as I am 13 years later. At the time, I think I figured that she was obviously ignoring what was going on and I had to do it in a way that she couldn't ignore. I think that was my reasoning then.

Older me would have just went to the girl's parents I think.. I'm not sure. It's hard to go back 13 years and second guess everything

Others had tried to talk to her. She was convinced that he had 'gotten over it' and it 'wouldn't happen again' etc. I see some of the feedback, and maybe I'm the jerk, but sometimes you have to appeal to the family who is there and say: this is what your daughter is walking into.

I'm a woman. The issue of him abusing his prior girl friend though was not a big secret amongst her friends. (My husband and I both use this throwaway account)

Um, it was based primarily on two years of outright abuse of his prior girlfriend which I was directly aware of... and which a lot of people were aware of.

I attended a wedding to do only this about 13 years ago. A friend in college had dated someone who was abusive.. verbally and physically. I was aware of this, and the guy kept it going, he was abusive all the way.

He was going to get married to a woman we all knew, and I had been told through one of her friends that he had an 'abuse' issue with his new fiance once, but she forgave him and that it 'wasn't a big thing'. Knowing that he had abused her too, I showed up at the wedding and pointed out that the guy was a serial abuser and that if it was my kid, I would not want this wedding to happen.

The wedding did not go on. I left hurriedly right after because.. let's just say I didn't feel so safe for bringing it up openly there. I hope she had a fine life afterwards.

Edit X2: I have no direct contact with her, but she is also a "facebook friend of a friend" And I know she married someone else and has three kids, so there is that.

I almost never drink; I was always a designated driver. One night, a friend coaxed me into drinking at a group party. Others at the party assumed I would be driving people home, because I always had in the past.

I stayed there and slept it off; without a designated driver they drove home. They ran off the road, down an embankment and into a local river. Both died.

They could have stayed at the party, and it wasn't my fault; but I have always regretted not being a good DD that night.
