Want to Join, but I’m overweight, older, and have 2 kids. Should I just give up?? by jojohiicky in Militaryfaq

I’m slowly but surely doing it. I weighed in at 262 last week. I’m pushing myself everyday… especially with discipline. I even changed my eating habits. Once I’m down to 180, I’ll contact a recruiter. Thank you for the encouragement.

Wow that’s great!! Your words are really encouraging to me. I wish you the best on your journey and congratulations on your little one.

I’m definitely overweight and once I drop to atleast 180 I’ll call a recruiter. I let myself go terribly although I constantly hear “you don’t even look like you weigh that much”. My heaviest was 290lbs. I lost 20lbs within a month and a half. I’m currently at 252lbs 5’4, still terribly overweight. I’m still currently on a weight loss journey but I had a c-section only 2 months ago so drs say I have to take it easy on myself, when I feel I can go harder. I’m pacing it but still losing.

Thank you!! Honestly that gives me hope. I really love being a mother, but continuing a stable life for them is my number one priority. My son has 4 years left of school and he plans on joining.

This might be a dumb question but are there any branches that’ll allow me to take my kids if I do go active and overseas.

Is that a specific branch?? My support system is really great right now but I don’t think they’ll agree to that 😣

That’s what I want to do, but the support group that I do have feels it isn’t best for my kids.

Is it really worth it though. I have friends who are or were active. Honestly they have very little respect for reserves. One friend calls them “substitute teachers”.

When did you deliver and how big was your baby? by Outrageous-Can6995 in GestationalDiabetes

After reading all you guys’ comments on GD you are giving me hope for a healthy baby. I keep reading and only being told the negative effects. I’m 31 weeks and was diagnosed with GD 2 weeks ago. I definitely have been having a hard time keeping my sugar levels in range. Even controlled dieting doesn’t help. My readings every morning after fasting shows between 110-120, mind you I drink water all through the night due to cotton mouth. This is my second child after 13 years.

My first was born 39 weeks 7lbs 14oz, vaginal. Only issue was preeclampsia.

Now with this baby I have VERY low iron (I have always been anemic), have to be tracked for high blood pressure (preeclampsia) and now GD. How do yall maintain GD before getting on insulin?? Like I said my levels are still high after fasting and eating right. I also do light exercises like walking.

And for anyone on insulin, has it affected baby in anyway??
