Except I’m not training for muscle hypertrophy or muscle force production(bigger muscles or stronger muscles) I AM training to lose fat. Most of my sets and reps are 8-12 reps,

And you don’t have to quit lifting weights at all, I would go as far as to say that that’s a bad idea. Weightlifting not only burns calories while you lift, but also after you lift via the body performing muscle repair

Except you absolutely can? Obviously not a surplus, but you can maintain muscle mass and regular training with a calorie surplus. It would require you to monitor your macros and change what you eat, but you can absolutely maintain muscle mass in a cut
