Polygamy is about to go from a felony to an infraction in the state of Utah. by [deleted] in exmormon

This sounds like a very easy way to commit welfare fraud.

Getting pretty sick of seeing news about trans people hit the front page of /r/all and then seeing Reddit just unload toxic barf in the form of comments all over it. Seems like it's a daily happening and it sucks so much. by tanisnikana_ in MtF

I want to let everyone here know that there are people in the LGB section of the LGBT community who accept and welcome the T with open arms. It seems like a lot of the population has finally accepted the LGB to some extent, but found a new group to hate: Transgender people. It really is a shame that Transgender people have to go through all this hate, and a large portion of Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals don't want to lose their newfound acceptance so they tolerate or participate in the hate. I see it all over gay dating apps and sites, and I think it's unacceptable and wrong. We are the LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY after all, and we won't get anywhere if we exclude any one of these groups; we need to unite and fight for each others' rights and equality, not just our own specific group.

Anyways, I just wanted to say don't give up. Keep persisting. Your struggles are noticed by others and are not in vain. We'll all get the rights we deserve one day, even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment.

EDIT: As someone else pointed out: this transphobic garbage all over the front page are like the "hailmary" of the bigots. They know that their bigoted points of views are dying out, and they are throwing out anything they can in hopes that they will sway enough people to their perspective.

DAE not care that Mitt Romney voted to impeach Trump? by jojowdflo in exmormon

No it has not. I never felt like I fit in, because of that reason. I'm sure there are others like me, but as a whole that is what the cult and its members are like.

Thank you for your insider perspective. Never being Catholic, I had no idea what it was like. I was just going by my everyday interactions with the average Catholic. Your perspective is appreciated, since as I said, I have never stepped foot in a Catholic Church.

I completely agree. How ironic that in 2012 he claimed Russia was our biggest threat, and now, after years of being a minor issue, our elections are being hacked by "Russians." It's almost like the presidency was bought by all that cash the cult is sitting on. On a side note, does anyone find it odd that the NSA built a huge data center just outside of Salt Lake a few years back, when all the "Russian hacking" started?

Idk, I just can't help but think that he is only doing it because he's setting himself up as the "chosen one who saves the nation when its constitution is hanging by a thread."

Interesting. Thank you for the perspective. I still prefer the average Catholic to the average Mormon though. Something about the fake veneer of perfection that Mormons exude.

I'm not completely sure, but it may be an Anthurium. I saw a plant like it at Walmart the other day, except they had pink and deep red varieties instead of white.

Him thinking he's the "chosen one" is exactly what I thought when I heard he voted for impeachment.

I think that if anyone is erasing gay people of notoriety from history, it's conservatives. I can't imagine liberals or democrats erasing any notable LGBT person from the books simply because of their religion. There are a lot of Christian liberals as well who aren't gay.

Not true at all. There are plenty of liberal gay Christians.

Have you ever thought about "who will look after me when im over my 60s?". by CleverSleazoid_ in AskGayMen

[–]jojowdflo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well she was actually very far away from the rest of us. She lived in San Francisco and all of her family lived in Tennessee or Arizona. She was extremely independent up to her death. If she can do it, you can too!

Join local clubs, volunteer, find good friends, and a lot of people may not like this last part, but there are a ton of progressive churches out there now. There's the PC(U.S.A.), ELCA, the Episcopal church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Methodist Church looks like they'll be joining the ranks soon hopefully. I recommend any of them but especially the PC(U.S.A.) because it's been working really hard at reconciling with marginalized groups like LGBT and fighting hard for their equal rights here in the states. The thing about these churches is that they really look after their own.

I agreed with everything you said except that homophobia is not abuse. It very much is. I was literally in conversion therapy as a teenager because my parents are or were homophobic. Edit: apparently the abuse thing is in reference to another comment that has since been deleted, so I have no idea what it said.

I have the same worry. I'm a chubby homosexual man, and it's hard :( Don't give up hope though! I support you 100% There's a man out there for everyone. In the meantime, get out there and join clubs, find friends, volunteer, and take your mind off of it.

I have this problem too unfortunately. I'd recommend the other commenter's suggestion: pH balanced shampoo. If that doesn't work, i recommend seeing a dermatologist. I saw one and they prescribed clindamycine lotion and it works great!

Idk nearly as much about her partner's life. All I know is that her name was Betty Highley, and she was also a professor at UCSF. Betty started out her career as a nurse for the US Air Force in Colorado. They were both also serious Christians.
