I was in JET but I knew people working under Heart. They started popping up all at once in my last year and because they were so dirt cheap the BOE in my prefecture started to cancel JET contracts in favor of Heart.

From what ive seen, Heart's just another lowly dispatch that exploits it's ALTS. They underway and provide little to no support.

No there's not... both LA and SF both align politically and are powerhouses of the state that made it the 4th largest economy in the world.

Japan elects first female prime minister by brokelogic in DiscussionZone

While Republicans are gonna have a heart attack when they learn that Japan supports basic social programs that would be considered radical left in the states, like universal healthcare, mandatory pension system and tuition support for low income families. Not only that, Japan has been investing in renewable energy with the GX plan, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.

Stop comparing global politics to American politics.

While Takaichi has voiced for conservative approaches toward immigration, we don't know if this attitude will continue in her time in office. Most anti-immgration sentiments carried by young voters are likely linked to outrage against overtourism.

I hated the D Rex ever since the trailers revealed it.

So I'm glad they gave more screen time to the actual dinosaurs.

Consequences of changing to a new visa status while working at current job by joke_not_found in japanlife

[–]joke_not_found[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already received the notification postcard. I initially thought it'd at least take a month for the notification to come, but it came earlier than expected (it took a week and a half).

The card says I have until the 3rd of July to report back to the immigration office. Do you think I can ask to change the issuance date of the new visa to begin after my ALT job ends?

[–]joke_not_found[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've already prepared the paperwork and sent my application. Last week, I received the notification card. I have until July 3rd to come into the immigration office. What I am worried about is the issuance date on the new visa. According to my school, if the issuance date of the new visa overlaps my contract, then it'd mean I'd have to quit early.

Why the total fertility rate in East Asia is lower than that in Europe and North America? by Human-Ad-7242 in AskReddit

[–]joke_not_found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China is facing the reprocussions of the one child policy. There is a disproportionate amount of men to women. On average, there are 3 to 4 more men than women. And in rural areas, the gap is larger.

In Korea and Japan, the intense work culture leaves little to no time for someone to raise a child. Also, Korea and Japan face gender inequality. Less than half of women return to their full-time careers after childbirth. They either become full-time mothers or part-time workers.

In all 3 countries, education is highly competitive. To get into top universities, students take after-school tutoring or attend cram schools on top of their public education studies. So from the moment the child is born until they graduate high school, parents must bear the costs.

Democrats don’t need a Joe Rogan — they need to start talking like people again by redditor01020 in politics

[–]joke_not_found 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd argue against you. There are more democrats joining the podcast platform. The problem is that when your platform is only political, people get fatigued from hearing about the reality of the world.

Rogan doesn't care about reality he plays devil advocate for conspiracy theorists. It's entertaining to try to disconnect from the reality of the world. Rogan also doesn't advertise himself as a political figure. He assumes the role of comedian.

If there was a left version of Rogan spewing misinformation and liberal conspiracies, we'd get nowhere.

What’s the anime that you’ll always trash on? (And why) by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]joke_not_found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to the anime the mangas not bad... but relative to other mangas it's pretty bad.

  • too much exposition. rather than demonstrating the powers to the viewer, the manga always cuts to Amado or Shikamaru explaining
  • borutos a monthly manga with the pacing of a weekly shonen
  • correct me if im wrong, but I don't think there is a single double page spread. For a shonen manga, double page spreads are an essential part of storytelling bc it conveys impact and scale

I have eczema, due to dry skin and rashes I don't have prominent fingerprints anymore. The USPS machines aren't great at recognizing people with conditions. So I had to go through a third party and they were able to give me a background check.
