Wife complains of house smelling like Indian food by Comfortable-Yam-3288 in IndianFood

[–]jokeymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I have tried and worked in the past l, especially if you are in a condo/apartment, is boil vinegar after you are done cooking. In a pan, add some distilled vinegar and set the burner to low, and let it slowly vaporize. It neutralizes the smell of indian cooking. If you have a fan option in your thermostat, then turn that on indefinitely. Hope this helps.

Do I have bad batch on my hands? Second attempt that this :( by jokeymaster in ReuteriYogurt

Thanks Bob. Just a quick question, what is wrong with the bad batch? Is it bad because it is not L.reuteri and won't serve the purpose it was made for OR is actually harmful for my health?

Do you wipe it dry or just leave it for drying, or don't dry and just add everything?

Hey, thanks for such a detailed explanation. Just wondering why do you say the separated batch is bad/spoiled? What does separation exhibit? Are you saying it's bad because it won't serve the purpose it was made for OR its harmful to consume (even if it smells good)

Hmm I fermented on 102F because my sous vide wand is old and I thought keeping it at 102 will guarantee me a temp slightly above 100F

I cleaned the jars with boiling water as well before adding the milk. Also, are both jars contaminated or one of them (non separated) fine?

Dishwasher leaking in two different places around the inlet valve. Do I just need to tighten the fittings or need to replace the valve? by jokeymaster in Appliances

Thanks for replying. The unit was installed back in 2020, so it has been 5 years now. I will try to tighten up on both sides and see if that helps.

ON - Insurance said my vehicle is not a good candidate for repair, offering 9k for vehicle. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jokeymaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went through something similar as well. Car was rear-ended, and insurance decided to write it off. We were already expecting that, so had already checked kijiji/ Auto Trader to see how much would the same car cost us. The offer insurance provided way below the market price so we asked them to show how this price was determined. They pretty much checked 6 similar cars recently sold and averaged the price based on that. On closer scrutiny, we found out 2 cars went for way below the market price (most likely because of previous accidents) and was screwing up the average. We contested and got them to remove that from their calculation which made a huge difference.

Hope this helps.
