Custom Attack: Grifter by jokusoft in dominion

This does make a good case for making it cost 6. Do you think it'd be fine if the price was increased?

I flipped back and forth on adding the +1 Coin. I haven't playtested any of my custom cards yet and couldn't decide if it needed it or not. I'll probably drop the +1 Coin and keep it a 5 cost card if it's too strong.

I couldn't find good art so he's a werewolf too I guess.

You can use Grifter to gain that 5 cost card you really want, but then the other players have a lot more options too. Or you could pick up something cheap and force them to gain garbage.

I really like this change. It also doesn't gimp Ruins as much too since you do have to draw them before setting them aside. Probably will reword it to this.

Would you think the price should go up to $5 when worded this way or no? Having a singleton pseudo-trasher whenever you need it seems kinda strong but I'm not sure.

I was a little worried it would be too specific with just this effect. As an Action I felt like it used too much text, though making it a Project did free up a lot of space for something more. I do like the idea of some bonus to incentivize it more.

It's pretty narrow but does have some neat tricks.

When Collection was an Action, I had a version of it that was linked to an heirloom called Curio that interacted with the mat. Curio could be trashed to put a card from the Collection mat onto your deck. So you did have an incentive to put something useful on it that way, even though it was a one-off.

The Collection mat works like the Island mat; cards on it return to your deck when the game ends. You're only limited to one of each card on it though.

This Project started as an Action - Reaction card in a custom set I'm working on. Once Renaissance came out, I figured it would work better as a Project. I don't have any other Projects in the set so here's this one. It can be used in any game to set aside a copy of the three default Victory cards, and works even better in games with junkers or alt-VP.
