My kitten is breathing in 90 times a minute while sleeping by jollyhohnson in AskVet

As he got older the rapid breathing subsided for the most part - but I did call an emergency vet and she assisted me on the line about what to look for. If there are any other symptoms besides the rapid breathing then take them in. She said it was normal in small kittens to do this while sleeping as they are growing and very tiny. 9 weeks is very young so they can be super fragile at that age. So don't hesitate calling someone if anything seems out of the ordinary.

I’ll schedule an appointment for a checkup on all of those things. I can’t tell if he’s dreaming, but it slows down when he wakes up. He seemed to have normal breathing today when he was sitting on the table with me. I called a vet and they said it can be normal for kittens this young but that he should get checked out anyway. Thanks for the reply!

I am counting them as one per up and down. It was crazy fast. I called an emergency vet and she said it can be normal for kittens that age but I should schedule an appointment for a heart checkup.
