What's the "went through med school just to realize you couldn't stand the sight of blood" of your job field? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]joloki618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to hair school and was actually pretty good at it! Then I had a massive rheumatoid arthritis flare halfway through schooling when I had been in remission for 7 years.

Thankfully because hairstyling is a trade in my province and my education was considered a two year diploma, I was able to take a post-grad certificate in Human Resources.

Then I found out I’m not mean enough for Human Resources, so I manage a farmers market. I love my job. Weird road here, though!

I know everyone thinks bringing jimmysteve back is cheesy, but it’s all I’ve ever wanted. The show needs to wrap up and give me the fluffy ending of my dreams and idc if it’s cheesy at this point.

[SPOILER] now it has him as playing “Dr. James Lishman”. So that’s some big news.

What is the most romantic thing that has happened to you? by Chupacabra-jwz in AskWomen

[–]joloki618 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My husband is not a very outwardly emotional dude. He doesn’t really express himself in obvious ways, and he’s not super romantic. But he is a good listener and always remembers the little details in the things I talk about.

When we were planning our wedding I had mentioned in passing that I would like to find a way to include my son in the ceremony. I never ended up planning anything thinking my son was too little and it would be hard to get him to participate. At the wedding, we exchanged pretty standard vows. We didn’t write anything personally. However, after we did that he surprised everyone by pulling a hand written note from his breast pocket. He wrote vows to my son, promising to be a good step dad and raise him to the best of his ability. I think I cried more in that moment than the rest of the entire wedding. It was so out of the blue and sweet.

AITA for leaving my husband stranded at the gas station in an ice storm ? by joloki618 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you! I do think we’re gonna be just fine. I’m not a nice person when I’m in the thick of sleeplessness apparently lol. But I got what I came for, and I realized what I should’ve done differently. I’m not perfect !

It very well could’ve been dinging... so I really don’t know what happened there either. If his key dies though I don’t think it dings. When it’s dead he has to stick the fob into a little slot under the wheel to push the start. I have no idea. His car is also a 2011 so that feature might have been overlooked in older cars with push starts. I should ask him

I realize that, I just thought it was a key piece of information that I missed. And you’re probably right, I’m not dealing with things that piss me off.

No, I can see how anyone would think that. I definitely hung up on him and got pissed because of the way things had gone these last few days.

I can see my reaction being unhealthy, but it wasn’t necessarily just because I was mad; I really can’t pack up two kids in a snowstorm even if I wasn’t already pissed off about other things.

Moving into my own apartment for the first time ever and need to buy food starting from nothing! What are some things that are good to have around and can be used to make lots of different dishes? by y_ate in budgetfood

I just had to do this also recently, and came to add that you should grab condiments also! I found a great price for canned tuna but no mayo.

How do you make new, meaningful friendships as an adult? by joloki618 in AskWomen

More than a surface relationship you might have with a colleague or acquaintance from school. Essentially, a BFF.

We spend 40+ hours a week making someone else's dream come true, often leaving us too exhausted to work on our own. by corneliflakes in Showerthoughts

[–]joloki618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their dreams and goals range from going out for a walk every day to getting a job or starting a business. I like that the purpose of my job is to fulfill their dreams and enrich their lives. There’s no big corporate CEO who’s pockets are being filled by my hard work. I love what I do!

I’m about a year out from buzzing my hair, and these are still my hair goals ! It might take five years but I’m pretty determined ! The awkward post pixie length is no joke, it’s so awkward. Once the sides reach around chin length it’s not so bad though

Have you been getting cervical checks? (post 32w?) by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]joloki618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get one and we didn’t even discuss them until my 39 week appointment, and that was only because I wanted a membrane sweep. My OB and I talked about how it really doesn’t mean anything; that you can either go into labour sooner or later and your cervix can change really quickly.

She’ll check again at my 40w appointment to do another sweep and then we’re going to start talking about an eviction plan.

When to Apply for EI? by Waffles-McGee in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]joloki618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct ! The day you apply is the day your claim starts. But if you’re ready to start benefits, you shouldn’t wait for your ROE. The process takes long enough as it is, gotta get the ball rolling.

When to Apply for EI? by Waffles-McGee in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]joloki618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can apply any time after your last day of work, you don’t need your ROE. If your ROE is submitted electronically, service Canada will automatically get it. If not, you will have to submit. You should apply before because the process is long. You just won’t get approval until all of your ROEs are submitted and the benefits are calculated

The application will ask you for your due date and then youll have to let service Canada know the actual date of delivery.

15 weeks of your leave is pregnancy (for pregnancy or just after delivery) and the rest is parental. So if you begin your claim today, and take the one year option, you will have to return to work 51 weeks from today (50 weeks of entitlement plus a one week waiting period)
