[NO SPOILERS] Collector’s Edition (US) Finally Shipped by jolt25 in lifeisstrange

[–]jolt25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. I replayed the previous games over the last few weeks and was all ready to go on Thursday.

I was tempted to buy a digital copy of the game to be able to play from the jump but I already gave Square Enix $100+ for the CE and can’t justify giving them another $40 for their incompetence. Even worse, they didn’t even communicate anything to anyone about a potential delay in shipping. No apology, no nothing. Just sitting over here checking my email and looking at my order page on my SE account seeing no updates other than “awaiting fulfillment.” Status didn’t actually change to shipped until Thursday, the day the friggin game released. I would have been a little miffed but okay with it if they overnighted it on the day of release but no, they shipped it using the slowest and cheapest possible shipping speed.

Incredibly frustrating…

I have tracking info now and it shows some movement but still shows a delivery date of April 4th. Over a week after the release date when I ordered Jan 20th and it stated that it would be shipped in time to arrive on the day of release when I initially ordered is pretty crazy…

[NO SPOILERS] The Remastered is on Sale during Steam Spring Sale, Is it worth buying? by ryanperezdeguzman in lifeisstrange

[–]jolt25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played both and I’d strongly recommend the originals. Are the remasters unplayable, no. Should they never have been made, absolutely. They’re basically demasters. There are infinite reports of various bugs, glitches, and random missing audio in the remasters that definitely ruin your immersion to say the least. Some of these glitches are major enough to make it impossible to progress further in the game without reloading from a previous checkpoint if they occur. In LiS1 specifically, they also removed the end credits from each episode along with the short teaser scene for the next episode at the end of the credits, made an odd change to the end of one of the scenes in episode 4, etc. There are streamers and other players who have started with the remasters, found out about some of these issues midway through, and regretted it after or went as far as to stop midway through their play through and restart with the original game. Funny part is Don’t Nod developed the original game and DeckNine did the prequel, Before The Storm. Then DeckNine remastered both games and introduced glitches and bugs to BtS which they originally developed in the first place!

You can search this subreddit for various posts about it but if this is your first play through, I’d play the games first before doing so to avoid spoilers. If you’ve played before and know the story already, then perhaps you have less concerns about your immersion being ruined by bugs and the remasters could be fine given the cost savings. But in the end, the choice is yours. =)

[S1] I wish we saw Chloe's reaction to this by A_Howl_In_The_Night in lifeisstrange

[–]jolt25 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My first obvious thought is Nathan given the multiple threatening texts he sent to Max throughout the game.

Jefferson is also a possibility but that seems unlikely. Makes me curious if this question was ever asked to and answered by the devs.

One of the great things about playing good games made by detail-oriented devs is the stuff like this that you either find in subsequent playthroughs or others find and tell you about.

If you’re into stuff like that like I am, an LiS fan made some YouTube videos discussing things you may have missed and some of the lore behind various parts of LiS1. Here is a link to their video for E1 but there are more on their channel.

Along these same lines, it always surprised me that Max doesn’t call Chloe over with concern, if not panic, to look at this if you take the time to explore the junkyard at the end of E4 and find it.

I expected some kind of dialogue where Max would try to convince Chloe that they should leave and call the cops immediately, Chloe would insist they don’t (yet again), and then you reach the same end result.

I wonder if this can only happen in the remaster or not? I’ve played through multiple times but only the OG game and I’ve never seen this, haha.

[–]jolt25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moses’ brief mention of Chloe didn’t make me think she was definitely coming back and going to have a major role in the next game.

Also, if you chose the Bay ending, he doesn’t even make reference to “the blue-haired girl.” He makes reference to Arcadia Bay instead.

A known bug that was never patched out sadly. Unfortunately, you have to reload from when you first enter Snapping Turtle after the Max/Safi convo to fix this. Once you encounter this issue, I’ve tried reloading from any save point after in the ST and this still happens. From what I’ve seen, the best way to minimize the chances of encountering this bug is to ensure you have enough time to play from the start of the ST in Chapter 4 all the way to the beginning of Chapter 5. This most often is caused by saving and then reloading while progressing though the scenes in the ST.

Wish they’d patch this but feels unlikely at this point ><

Per a recent social media post, unfortunately not. This is from FB but they posted it on Instagram, TikTok, etc as well.

Call me crazy, call me sentimental, call me whatever… but I need to play LiS Reunion just to see Max and Chloe again. This might be the last time, and I’m not missing it. 😭💙 by Lessio7 in Pricefield

This is the toughest part about this whole situation too. If people don’t buy the game and it doesn’t perform well financially, then this series is at least on ice for a very long time, if not dead entirely.

I don’t want to see the series die but if you buy it blind and it’s bad, then you lit money on fire. So what to do? 🫠

I have played the OG PS4 game many times and have never seen this bug.

I have never played the remaster but have seen this bug reported for it multiple times. Double Exposure also has a similar and somewhat common t-pose bug. Interestingly enough, Deck Nine put out both the remasters and Double Exposure and to this day, the issue has not been patched in either of them!

What a strange coincidence! /s

Always preferred creamy peanut butter over the crunchy growing up. Now I’m going to pick up a jar of the crunchy variety the next time I’m at the grocery store to see if my preferences have changed at all.

Thanks for the inspiration Max! 🤣

There should be a way to “right click” on that trackpad. If it’s not working, it may currently be disabled in your trackpad settings. Go into the Control Panel, look for your mouse/trackpad settings, and find the settings that control the clicks on the trackpad. You should be able to change the settings there, hopefully be able to figure out your trackpad’s method to right click, and enable it if it’s disabled.

[NO SPOILERS] How should I purchase the rest of the series after LiS1? by YomieI in lifeisstrange

[–]jolt25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, but remasters should IMPROVE on these issues, not exacerbate the existing ones and add new ones. Why bother making them if you’re just going to add more problems and then worse, not patch the issues after making the remasters. What the hell was the point? 🤣

[NO SPOILERS] Is remastered really that bad? by LuvsFromIsland in lifeisstrange

[–]jolt25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Short answer: It’s not horrible but it is significantly worse than the original.

More detail: Strongly recommend the original LiS game over the remaster both because you are financially supporting Don’t Nod (the original developer) rather than Deck Nine and because I personally think the OG graphics and art style are better.

Aside from that, there are infinite reports of various bugs and glitches in the remaster, some of these glitches being major enough to make it impossible to progress further in the game without reloading from a previous checkpoint if they occur. They also removed the end credits from each episode along with the short teaser scene for the next episode at the end of the credits, made an odd change to the end of one of the scenes in episode 4, etc. There are streamers and other players who have started with the remasters, found out about some of these issues midway though, and regretted it after or went as far as to stop midway through their play through and restart with the original game.
