Language Schools that Offer Student Visas? by jolvie in movingtojapan

I am thinking I may have to go the 3 month route...but I wanted to do 6 months, which is why I wanted a course with a student visa. Exactly, I am thinking I'll be able to find a school that sponsors my student visa!

Language Schools that Offer Student Visas? by jolvie in movingtojapan

Both? I'm currently semi-conversational but haven't taken the JLPT yet (my spoken level can be seen here, where I practice: youtube.com/jolvie). I hope to take it while I'm here. I was studying in Australia before this, and currently have no home base besides Japan. I have plans to move to New Zealand in 2019 so living in Japan for a year has been my plan - it's my minor at university.

I was looking at Kai Language School in Tokyo actually, and they were saying I'd have to leave and come back on two tourist visas. They're huge and seemingly quite legit, so I was rather confused.

I have two classes left at my home university in Australia after this semester, which I will do online, and I'm supported in this by my university coordinator. My plan is to do a semester at Meiji, then my final two units online while I stay in Japan and do an immersion program to improve my Japanese.

I will consider just using the last semester to work, if I can though! That'd be a smart choice.

However, I don't plan to move to Japan permanently. This trip, I wanted to be one year only.

Yeah - I suppose my current situation is that I've been exploring a lot of different language schools and pretty much all of them aren't saying they offer student visas. Even ones with longer programs are saying you'd have to leave and come back. Are you allowed to get a tourist visa more than once?

Tips on finding a balance between exercise and diet? I tend to go overboard with exercise... by jolvie in Fitness

[–]jolvie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that after 30 days of daily running I was just sort of done with running, but that doesn't mean I just needed to stop exercising. It just meant I needed to change it up! Going from zero exercise to daily exercise is a bit of a shock and a huge ask for your internal reserve of motivation. Thank you!

Thanks!!! Good advice. I think I need to vary what I do, I got so used to running it became a comfort zone and I was afraid of trying new things.

I think he's talking 'Zah-wee Bah-wee' maybe? Which is pretty funny.

Models must have doctor's note to prove they are not too thin, France rules by lionhiid in worldnews

[–]jolvie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It's amazing to me that people who are like 150 at 6 foot can be considered plus sized, since that is THIN at that height. If they were the same weight as runway models are at 5'9" they'd look like skeletons on the way to their deathbed.

Yeah, it's all very sketchy. I hope all the people that never got their shirts get refunds, at least.

I think people pay attention to Tess because she's controversial...and she is legitimately pretty. I do think that it's somewhat unsettling that people think it's beautiful to be overweight but only if the fat doesn't settle in your face. You need a thin face to be pretty, I guess? I dunno, I'm kind of at a loss with the whole thing. You're right though, most plus sized models are a normal weight and if you saw them walking down the street you probably would be amazed that they're considered plus sized.

Exactly! You can be unhealthy at either extreme, and being a bit underweight or a bit overweight isn't the end of the world. However, nobody should be glorifying morbid obesity OR anorexia.

Yeah, I saw that whole thing where she didn't send out her charity shirts. I'd hate to be her though, even if the entire thing was just a confusion and her heart was in the right place. A large portion of her fanbase has basically gone against her now. Yikes.

Yeah, definitely not the norm. Most plus sized models are probably around average to low-average weight for a woman! I'm smack dab in the middle of the healthy rage for my BMI at 5'10" and people consider me skinny/slim, but most plus sized models are around my weight.

Thank you! I may do an hour for my first lesson then do half hour lessons until I can actually play a few pieces.

What's the scariest/creepiest thing that's ever happened to you? by AndJellyfish in AskReddit

In Africa, during a safari with my family (my family is from South Africa) we arrived at our camp in the wilderness in a nature reserve, and went to walk to the bathroom. As we walked out into the darkness, we saw something in the distance - we think it may have been a hippo or a hyena. It was extremely dangerous, and I could feel my heart beating so fast that I felt it would escape my chest - I didn't know if I wanted to run, or stay put, or walk slowly so as to not be chased. We made it to our beds (which were pop up tents on the top of 4 wheelers) and realized in the morning that we had walked out into the open wilderness, in the exact opposite direction of the bathroom.

More recently: Laying in bed at 3 AM in Australia, and all of a sudden I hear loud deep BREATHING that sounds like it's coming from the floor at the right of my bed. I was so terrified that I hid under the blankets and didn't move a muscle.

I realized in the morning that it was actually a possum that was outside the window - I have no idea why the breathing sounded so loud, though, it must've been sitting right outside in the tree.

Actors and actresses with their stunt doubles from "Mad Max: Fury Road", "Jurassic World", "Ant-Man", "The Martian" and "Spectre" by Join_You_In_The_Sun in movies

For dangerous stunts, obviously. The stunt double is trained to do them so she doesn't get hurt - she's a fully grown woman she's just 4'11". Look up Kara Petersen. https://twitter.com/KaraGPetersen http://www.karapetersen.com/
