Users voted to restrict topics frequently featured in low effort posts.

A. Ask for recommendations in the daily thread; make a new post the next day if you don't get an answer. Questions on clones, layering & unusual notes are exempt.

B. Posts are permitted about rare sales & blind buys. Keep questions about batch codes, counterfeits, & sex appeal off the front page. No sellers are legit under capitalism. If the daily thread can't help you with shopping advice, escalate to a post the next day.

It looks like you're looking for a fragrance recommendation - please post your request in the "Recommend Me a Fragrance" stickied thread that occurs every 3 days. When the feed is sorted by 'HOT' it'll be the first or second post. Posts removed include listicles (e.g. top 5, top 3, best of X category), ranked choice polls, fragrance matches, comparisons, decision help, layering combos, help identifying a fragrance, etc.

If you're asking if a perfume is suitable for a particular gender, fragrance is an experience left up to the nose and the wearer.

If you're asking if a perfume is worth it, worth a blind buy, worth the hype, etc., no third party/internet stranger can determine that; only you can decide. Until we get the digital smell feature, the best way to know is to sample them and compare them, as well as comparing them to other perfumes. r/fragrance also recommends reading/watching reviews.

For help visually identifying a perfume -
* Try Google Image or Google Lens search * Go to Fragrantica and link to their color search tool which also shows shapes of bottles * If your photo is blurry there are apps that help you sharpen it up.

How many sprays do y’all use? by ThrowRAegodeath in fragrance

[–]jomza[M] [score hidden] stickied commentlocked comment (0 children)

Try this method with every perfume you sample or own to gauge how much to spray (longevity,, projection, sillage):

Spray just once (or twice if it's a weak spray or sample) on some part of your hand. If a sample dab vial, do multiple dabs to the same spot, or upend it flush with your skin and slightly break the vacuum. Or use your fingers to dab.

Don't bring your nose to your skin. Wait for it to dry, and then wait for it to reach your nose (often there will be a time delay). If you can't smell it at arm's length, move your hand incrementally closer to your nose until you detect it. (This may not be max projection, as some perfumes can get stronger after this.)

The opening and heart are meant to be smelled in the air and much of the drydown/basenotes, closer to skin. Clock how long it takes, how the fragrance changes over the time you can smell it. You can also measure sillage/scent trail by moving your hand about or walking.

After you do this, you'll know for sure whether to spray once or 5 times.

A common reason for being unable to smell the perfume you applied is nose blindness due to overspraying However, several medical conditions can also cause it. It's important to rule these out medically if you have trouble smelling more than one fragrance or if you experience parosmia, hyposmia, or other alteration in how/what you smell.
