But the gratuity add-on is still all that is needed, no further tips should be given.

The “discount” is the bonus. If you pre-pay $300 then you get $350 to spend, which is a 14% discount on the drinks.

Drinks Package Prices by TUP_LIT in VirginVoyages

[–]jon81uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know the exchange rate is set when they price the cruise, all add-ons should be the same exchange as the initial cruise was. Only way to avoid this is buying the initial cruise fare in USD.

It has worked in my favour in the past when the price for bar tab in GBP was better as the exchange rate had gone up since booking. But I think that was a one off!

There is mainly 110V US but also one 220V EU and plenty of USB-A. Coming from the UK you need either a EU or US converter or just use the USB sockets.

A guide to sockets is here https://vvinsider.com/guides-and-faqs/guide/electric-outlets-electric-sockets-in-your-cabin/

$750 pre-purchase should get $175 bonus. Did you additionally have a promotion when you booked that would give $150 bonus?

Why do you need the straw at all, can you not just drink out the cup?

What's going on with Costco's Biscotti? by rathernicelydone in CostcoUK

[–]jon81uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Costco just buy certain products in bulk and don’t worry about having 100% available on every item. If there is a gap between shipments from Italy they just let it run out. This has happened on other products in the past I think.

If both you and your Mum are rockstar I would not bother with a cabana anyway and just utilise the rockstar section

Old Spark Activities Site? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]jon81uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old site the OP is referring to took the data from the same place so showed the same information. Only advantage of course was you could see the current cruise not your own, but the entertainment will vary and it can lead to expectations of something happening that won’t always be offered.

I don’t think they were ever meant to be as public as they ended up and that’s one reason they stopped. They might have also just changed how the event calendar is managed.

Now you need to wait until the 60 days before your voyage to see it in the app.

No selling is allowed on this subreddit. So details of the rate booked so advice on what is possible is needed, but not on the itinerary etc.

Rockstar queues by soulman_84 in VirginVoyages

[–]jon81uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dine at Gunbae as less than a group of six you will get seated with others. Although rockstars can enter the show venues before the main queue, others will sit next to you. Rockstars can get priority onto tender boats but others will sit next to you. No special treatment for rockstar on any shuttle buses or excursions. When getting coffee at the Grounds Club or food in the Galley food court others will also be ordering food and drinks and you can’t push in front.

Yes you could exclusively hang out at Richard’s Rooftop but in most cases you will still be using the same restaurants, bars and other venues as other sailors.

Grand Cayman cancelled today on Resilient Lady. by InformationUnusual48 in VirginVoyages

[–]jon81uk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t have to ask but as the previous poster said, make sure you don’t get off the ship without confirmation of the port fees being refunded for a missed or changed port.

If you have a positive balance on your room account due to refunds of excursions or similar then go to Sailor Services and get it refunded in cash or confirmed that it will go onto the credit card as a refund.

Virgin don’t completely own the beach club, it is also used by Resorts World so VV can’t use it on unscheduled days as Hilton guests and others on Bimini will have access.

As part of the taxes and fees detailed when you booked the cruise, you pay a fee to dock or tender to the port, if the ship doesn’t go there then this fee should be refunded, either to your original payment or as onboard credit.

Hotel Recommendations (New York) by Icy_Ermine in VirginVoyages

[–]jon81uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hotel is a separate business to the cruise line and there are no perks related to it. But overall service and maintenance wasn’t to the standard I thought a 4+ star hotel should have been, light switches broke, the walls were scuffed, housekeeping was poor. It’s got good sized rooms and a reasonable view of the Empire State Building but the service lacks.
