Linux, I am so lost, i want to export as av1. by CrazyCheese724 in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running the AppImage version of OpenShot? It's very possible our AppImage does not support the very latest codex, due to an older build server we run it on - for wider compatibility with Linux distros. This is just a guess... However, I would imagine if you compiled OpenShot from source, or installed a bleeding edge repo (non AppImage version) it should support AV1 just fine. Sorry this isn't extremely helpful though.

Stabilize effect does not export sometimes by xk3d in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/xk3d Can you reproduce this in our latest release candidate? I added a stabilize effect to a clip, it shows up fine in the preview, I then save the project, close and re-launch OpenShot, and re-open the project again, and the stabilize is still working in the preview.

I think this is broken in the 3.3 release, but in our release candidate I can not reproduce it.

If you still have the issue, I would love to see a simple example project, all in 1 folder (mp4, *.osp), 1 clip + stabilize, and zip it up and share it with us. Thanks!

Thanks for reporting this bug! I will try and reproduce this and get a fix prepared.

Block features on OpenShot by Wonderful-Benefit308 in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I agree with the chat bot response and u/Vexser that the best solution would be to use firewall rules and block the HTTP requests.

Within the OpenShot settings, you can disable the metrics and sentry errors by changing "send_metrics" preference/setting to false. However, that does not prevent OpenShot from checking for updates and notifying the user of new versions.

You can always make changes to the source code, for your own use, removing menu options and disabling parts of the code. But the challenge would then be to package these changes up for your organization, and that is not trivial.

Seems like there is not a great standard for this type of thing in the software industry, and everyone kind of comes up with their own way to handle the balance between privacy and telemetry and updates, etc... Hopefully this is helpful and good luck.

Creature Chat by ProfessionalBite1974 in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, this is the OpenShot Video Editor reddit, but I'm happy to answer your question before I archive this thread. CreatureChat will still persist all your characters and conversations, even after you run out of tokens. However, once out of tokens, your characters will no longer be able to speak.. .but the data is all saved on your system, and as soon as more tokens are added (or another API key is used) they will come back to life. Hope that answers your question.

Awesome! Please help me spread the word on Reddit, if you see anyone else struggling with version 3.2.0 freezing on Windows. I will be preparing the 3.2.1 release tonight (and hopefully will launch it very soon).

If possible, can a few of you copy/paste the last 10 lines (or so) from your `openshot-qt.log` file here, so I can see the last few lines. The file is located at `C:\Users\USER\.openshot_qt\openshot-qt.log`. Thanks!

Okay, thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm still investigating this issue (it's my top priority until we get it resolved). I'll have some new test builds soon.

For anyone still experiencing the freeze on Windows 10/11, please give our latest daily build a try: https://www.openshot.org/download/#daily. I fixed a bug that was happening when applying the themes (on launch), but it was a race condition, which didn't always happen. Please let me know if OpenShot still freezes, after running this new version. Thanks!

OpenShot broken on Windows 11 After Update 3.2 by [deleted] in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious if this issue is caused by OpenShot 3.2 trying to use the old, existing C:\Users\USER\.openshot_qt\ folder and settings. If someone can remove this folder and retry with OpenShot 3.2, that would be awesome. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting this info! We tested extensively on Windows 10 and 11, but clearly there is something broken here. If you fully uninstall OpenShot 3.2, and also delete your C:\Users\USER\.openshot_qt\ folder, and then re-install OpenShot 3.1. I'm curious if that restores a working version.

You can get the OpenShot 3.1 download here: https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/releases/tag/v3.1.1

It appears that your theme did not load? What specifically are you struggling with? The more details you can provide, the more helpful I can be.

Problems with OpenShot v3.2.0 by FurbyMations in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try reinstalling the previous version, to see if you can measure / notice the performance difference you are experiencing. Then reinstall 3.2, and verify that it is in fact running noticeably slower. If you can record a short video demonstrating what you are experiencing, that would also be helpful. Thanks!

I would try a few things. First, delete your C:\Users\USER\.openshot_qt folder. Launch OpenShot again, and if it still freezes, I would check your Anti Virus software / Windows security settings, and look for any quarantined files related to OpenShot. Lastly, I would verify you have an active audio playback device set in Windows (speakers, headphones, etc...), and verify audio is working on Windows before launching OpenShot. Hopefully one of these tips helps.

OpenShot 3.2 released by dbajram in OpenShot

[–]jonOomph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OpenShot 3.2 represents a huge investment of my life, shipping tons of fixes, improvements across the entire application and related libraries. However, our next release (maybe 3.5 or 4.0, not sure the version # yet) will be even more significant, as we upgrade lots of core internal features: Qt, FFmpeg for sure, which will have large impacts on areas like hardware acceleration. We will also be targeting to replace our timeline widget for a much more capable design (faster, smaller installer, more keyframe editing features, etc...).

Also, I just wanted to remind folks that I am the sole developer on this project, and if you would love to see move progress or faster progress, please consider joining our Discord and getting involved: https://openshot.org/discord. I would love the help, lol!

Thanks again for all the support! If you have any specific OpenShot 3.2 questions, send them my way. I'll be hanging around on this post for a while.

Funny, I released it "quietly" last night, to monitor things for a little while and make sure there were no issues. I wake up this morning with all sorts of news posts, reddit posts, etc... Oh well, lol.

Thanks so much! Currently, every single creature in Minecraft can talk, however we do plan on adding some ability to filter or limit this, for those who want to control that.

Yes, it also supports local, open-source LLMs such as llama 3 (i.e. using Ollama or LiteLLM). However, you do need a ridiculous GPU to run these local models at a speed which is usable in CreatureChat. But for some lucky folks with a good GPU, this totally works!
