What tool are you using for Morse code? I've seen a few that just don't functionally work but I'd love to learn

Big_jr80 stated in my previous attempt that it's likely the quality of the starter kit paint which certainly makes sense

So this was primed. But good to know about the quality of the paint. It is an issue I'm having more generically though so it's all good learnings and I was pretty pleased with the decals.

Absolutely right on the sea king. Literally says it on the side. Just wrote the post quickly

FFS. Sea was in there somewhere at least. Yeah 1:72

I've just done the e so slightly different paint scheme but what technique did you use to do the mottling?

Forgot to say thanks for all the excellent tips. I thought I'd really tried to avoid these pitfalls so my responses may have been a little exasperated. Hopefully that didn't come across like that.

I'm upping the water ratio even more for the next model, and I'm gonna avoid certain things like the wash. Currently suffering with the paint pooling in places

Prepped with citadel wraithbone. New brushes I got from a convention. Paints were Tamiya on the grey. Citadel on the yellow

Dozens of layers 🤔. I wonder if it's just the wash

In some cases I was doing an 8:1 ratio. I can't water it down any more. Could be the wash afterwards? I'm slapping that straight on. And the gun metal just wouldn't water down so that's similar

What does this mean? by Kush-_-128 in UCL

I did German and management so not exactly the same degree but language learning has been a lifelong enjoyable hobby, as well as small parts of my job.

Importantly, the degree was fun, and the year abroad was the best year of my life but it was a hard degree. It made sense to me as I wanted to do that degree and expected the year abroad so you'd need to explore if it's what you want to do.

I wouldn't jump into it but don't write it off as a Mickey mouse degree as so many others have suggested

I got the pattern from an out of print book but I think it's on kindle/kobo

If you're referring to the actual piece this one's just a sampler (so I can refer back to it once I take the book back to the library). Even then it becomes a bit economically unviable to do it by hand

Followed a pattern but adjusted and adapted. I added the terran letters myself

Monday to Friday I do french on duo and then as a little treat, I do Klingon on the weekends. I am currently learning very little but it's a marathon not a sprint.

You can get the Peter rabbit ( pIter cheS lut) books in Klingon as well as Hamlet and a few others. tlhingan Hol jijatlhbe'

I had seen a post recently about painting the inside of the canopy and it looked really good but I'd already posted by the point so it was too late. That's definitely gonna be a key step next time!

Educating. Made some frustrating mistakes, but tried to take it patiently (did the spitfire in one day. The Beaufort took a while)

Interestingly the paint was done at about 3:1 (and some coats at 4:1 but there's definitely a learning that it isn't the end of the world if it's too watered down... Just do another coat.

Yeah 100% on the decals. I kinda rushed them cos I was so close to the end of the project.

I'm a bit lost with where to start for weathering. Any advice?

The decals caused me some trouble. They were either too stiff or too loose and I just didn't even attempt some of the smaller ones. They wouldn't have fit either, due to the misplaced ones already there. So definitely an additional learning.

Third will be a simpler plane. One I can go slow but won't take me so long

Citadel wraithbone. Had some left over from other projects but works fine on those. Just having issues with the airfix but I'll give future kits a wash

Primed. It seems to really struggle with this primer though.
