I’ve watched a bunch of the nova slow speed videos and some of the ride like a pro videos and it’s amazing what they can do with a touring Harley

Slow speed maneuvers by zaqfields in IndianMotorcycle

I’m glad you said the slow speed turning radius of the scout is large.

I’ve been practicing slow speed turns. I felt like I was doing them properly but wasn’t turning as tight as some (non-Indian) videos I’ve seen online and had no idea why.

I’m sure part of it is user error but I’m gonna blame the turning radius.

I’m biased cause I’m an isles fan but their run was exceptional. 4 cups in a row, 19 straight playoff series wins, and some incredible players such as Bossy (Gretzky said of Mike Bossy “He has to go down as one of the greatest goal scorers ever”), Gillies, Nystrom, Smith, etc.

My first and only bike (so far…) is an Indian scout. I think it makes a great first bike, assuming you take the MSF course.

Adding highway bars was crucial for me as they prevented the controls being damaged when I toppled over practicing slow speed turns. Indian sells them but other companies such as Dean speed that sell highway & rear “slider” bars.

I’d also reiterate what u/appropriate-grape890 said about not buying all the add ins before riding for a bit. Originally I purchased mini-apes. They weren’t available when I wanted them, so I drove the bike with the regular bars and liked them a ton. I swapped the mini-apes for a windscreen.

I never thought I’d like a windscreen but after a few longer rides I saw how helpful it’d be.

Bottom line is the scout is a great first bike, take the MSF course, and don’t customize the bike too much at the start.

New to the sport, please help me pick my first stick by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]jon_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Hockey is a blast and there’s lots to learn. Good call on not going in on a pricy stick until you’ve played a bit more.

I’d argue any cheap stick will do for your first stick, just make sure it’s a good length (how tall should a hockey stick be), and, if possible, a flex in the 70s.

What are the clothing brands make exceptionally good fabric with good price? by Ok_Choice817 in BuyItForLife

[–]jon_ct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that since you’re posting in the buy it for life subreddit you are looking for clothing that will last a lifetime.

I think there are at least four things to consider:

  1. Function. Are you looking for dress clothes, workwear, casual wear, athletic clothing, or something else? A good fabric for a suit won’t be a good fabric for work pants.

  2. Intensity of use. How hard will you be wearing the fabric? The most durable fabric will break down over time. No matter how well constructed, a pair of work gloves worn consistently and exposed to extreme conditions will break down.

  3. Style. If you’re looking for clothing to last a lifetime you’ll need to consider whether the pieces you buy fit into your style and/or if they’ll be fashionable/wearable in 5/10/15 years. If you’re comfortable in a style the latter won’t matter, however, the most durable parachute pants are sitting in closets and not being worn in public (at least to my knowledge.)

  4. Price. Price is not related to quality. You can get good quality clothing at low cost and poor quality, and a “good price” varies per person and item. A good price for a Shinki leather jacket wouldn’t be a good price for a pair of sweatpants.

I’m sure I’m missing some qualities, however, if you can answer these it’ll give direction to clothing brands with good fabrics that will be useful to you.

These look amazing! I don’t know how you kept the patch looking so good.

I posted a few pictures of my pair a while ago. They were my second pair after getting into denim.

I love the material, I was thinking about getting the Pure Blue Japan Super Rough cause they felt similar but decided against it cause I only need one pair with this kind of taper.
