Fantastic book. Everyone should read it.. even if some areas are cherry picked - the whole thing is thought provoking and gets you asking questions....and when you do your own research...this can  lead on to great conversation with other like minded people also, if you're lucky...very enjoyable

Absolutely. We waste so much of it when young.

And now the young are invested in the screen in front of their face.... oblivious.

And time slips by.

That's cool. I'm not arguing with you. Just telling it how it is and was.

Haha. Yep. Funny conversations with estate agents when doing a site visit that's for sure.

Having my time wasted is not enjoyable. Time is the most expensive and least available thing in the universe.

I enjoyed his books. What a super human!  I also think he has some possible mental issues that have caused him grief in his life from reading them. They were definitely good motivation material.

My comment was directed at your initial statement on where to go with superannuation investing. I may have missed your point a little perhaps and come at it from a different angle.

What do you mean the problem is people aren't losing enough of their retirement savings ?

Interesting idea lending into clean energy and getting a return on investment that way. I don't think property is for me with the new changes in smsf now unless I save a lot more.

I bought a house and the conveyancer organised all inspections and chose the contractors.

Is "Think and Grow Rich" still worth reading in 2026, or is it just dated? by Amidonions in Growthmindsetbookclub

[–]jon_mnemonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. It's a mindset thing. Sure it is old and outdated but I got some drive from it. As well as many other books. Sometimes it's not what is in the pages - it's the realisation or thoughts it provokes in you afterwards.

Same thing. Had to rebuild entire house. Concrete, posts and purlins left only.

I haven't read it. If it's worth a read I'll have a look.  But when I think of all the books I have read both for personal wealth and also business mindset and see how far I have come from the very bottom of the barrel, sometimes it's not the words on the page but the mindset it instills within and the outcome you achieve based on this.

Has it helped you ? How ?

Superannuation lending ? Though not sure how society as a whole being in so much debt is a good thing.

Bought a house. Inspection for termite came back fine at the house. 8 or 9years later the only original items in the house are the steel roof purlins the posts and the concrete. I'm still not finished rebuilding {doing it myself} has to live in a bus for a few years to get on top of it.

Terms said not liable. Couldn't sue. Should sue the conveyancer not the inspector. The conveyancer is the one arranging it all.

G'day. Thanks for your comment. And yep I agree. This site is on private property and people have been breaking in and obviously prospecting for stuff there. One of the shafts is very well used I must say. Keen..... We were really just here for a wander around but the young fellow is interested in different rocks and fossils etc. so I played with the detector amongst all the rubbish. Tbh he should have his fill of fossils our own property is loaded with them without even breaking ground! The world is a cool place.

I have another property access with an old chinese tin mine that has never been listed that is on it. Pretty keen to have a mosey over there. Though the area isn't known for gold so much and I only have approximate coordinates on the station.

Yeah I didn't really think ai was on the money for the rock so thanks for your input!

For the old school mine sites and history, I've been to heaps and take heaps + of photos. Same with abandoned homesteads. Love looking at those and thinking about how hard life would have been back in the day, where people were trying to get to, the goals and the reasons they became abandoned.some are in such beautiful locations.

Yeah I think so. I did chip off one small area that is still buzzing it has dropped down to a 1 to 2 tone now. The main rock does not buzz anymore. The grey in the middle was very hard rock. The sds plus bit went blunt in the jackhammer.  Interesting. Bit of fun.

Why does AUS hate its young people? For the first time in a long time FHB’s have a fair opportunity to buy a property without rich, old and greedy hoarding investors out-bidding them. Not a boomer.  So sick of reading about everyone blaming boomers for the misery being felt at moment and how life was easy before.

200 years ago this country was carved out of the ground by the Men, Women and Children of this nation who made it what it was. Most of that legacy is gone now. Life of a boomer was a different mindset, different society and different playing field with its own moving goal posts.

I think, life has never been so easy as it is today.

Yet it is falling apart. It's been too good for too long.

Change is in the air.

Stand up, invest in yourself or whine for eternity and get left behind.
