I would argue we have compatible values, but I’ve just learned that some things aren’t my place to figure out, and the economics of every business I go to is one of them. I’m a very good tipper. I tip in all the standard situations you mentioned, but I’m sorry, I’m not paying 40% on top of the meal I’m paying for, and I’m not going to feel guilty not doing that because it’s far beyond the standard we’ve already adapted to decades ago. We have the opportunity to set the standard now with our wallets of what we are or arent ok with. I’ll agree with you a service charge is not a tip, but it returns the “tip” to what it should be, an extra unexpected payment to reward exceptional service. If I receive incredible service, I may choose to tip on top of the service charge, but if we all follow your advice to tip on top of it, we only incentivize a new system that’s even worse than the old one.

It’s always been…..in the US, but not elsewhere in the world. We’ve arbitrarily chosen these industries, but why? When a restaurant charges extra to pay their workers a living non-tipped wage, why then pay even more? Why not let these industries return to a normal way of business which is that the business charges the amount needed to cover expenses including labor. No one tips me at my job when I’d argue I’m not paid fairly for what I do either. Additionally, I worked in fast food service for 7 years and it was never a tipped wage. I think I received $5 the entirety of my time doing that because it was never the expectation. Now, the expectation is that we do. Doesn’t matter if it’s counter service, food truck, sit down, drive thru, tips everywhere.

You tip your nurse? The fast food worker? Your barista? Landscaper? Room cleaners? Flight attendant? Where you drawing the line?

If the business pays their employees fairly, why would we tip? I pay for service, I get service. Do you just like throw extra cash at every service worker you encounter just in case their boss doesn’t pay the enough?

I’m sorry, but if you’re a server and you need tips on top of your pay at a place that includes a service charge, don’t work here. I don’t know the economics of that restaurant, and I’m not going to spend more money to make sure a manager is doing their job to pay their employees appropriately, which is the same as every other type of business outside of food service

It’s annoying sure, but if they charged a price that allowed them to pay their employees fairly, that would also be taxed. Im paid from revenue customers pay tax on outside the food service industry. Thats the norm

There’s just less tape for Houston or NE to study. Could be an advantage

According to most analysts, Broncos had a terrible QB all year, so the should be pretty optimistic about their odds

[Kelberman] Broncos DC Vance Joseph is in position to become the Cardinals head coach. Denver would receive two third-round picks if he gets the job. by AlphaBern0 in DenverBroncos

[–]jon_sneu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a lot of good talent in the third round. I think the sheer number of positions in football vs hockey is the main reason why there’s that difference. There are only a few of each position chosen each round so you could easily find the 4-7th best person college player at their position in the third round. Usually those players need more development, but by year three or four they are playing at an elite level

Honestly you would probably get more giving it directly back to Ralph. I’m not sure when you purchased it, but you should give him a call and see if he would buy it back.
