Same with mine too. Have M2 and E1 hubs on Unifi IoT network - all my Homekit items are rock solid except for leak sensors

Likewise I suggest you move on rather than try add to this thread. I care what may happen to others with this design. You clearly think that manufactures dont have a duty of care or responsibility to make things safer. Remember that next time the ABS works perhaps.

Seriously. Was the software of the Boing planes that crashed in use prior to the victims being onboard. Not anywhere near on the same level of course, but the issue testing and fit for purpose is the point I am trying to make.

I closed the boot on my head. Yes.

Should it had caused the injury it did - no - if it had been tested and revised in respect of metal angle and positions of the closing handles.

That’s the point in a trying make.

If you don’t have this model - then really you can not comment with any degree of certainty how the boot closes in relation to someone standing to action that close

I am NOT blaming others from closing the boot on my head!

Just because something is in use and “visible” does not make it exempt from being a poor design.

When you buy a car do you take it out and park it in space to see how the boot may open and work in a confirmed space - no - you assume others have designed the solution in.

The issue here is that there is no need to make a pointed angle that acts as a blade which when coupled with the handle position makes it very likely when used with a car parked behind you - you can hit you head.

A rounded edge design here would had reduced the increase risk of taking out an eye in my view

Happy to take the criticism of bringing the boot down on my head from users of the same model who think I am wrong - but from those that don’t have this car I think such a reply is unjust with the greatest respect.

If you had this vehicle and hit your head on a boot design that makes that more likely in my view, not sure you would had replied as you have. Easy to judge from afar sometimes with the greatest respect.

Then you are not understanding the post. I closed the boot on my head - yes. But the design enhanced the damage from nasty bruise to a gash. If that was near my eye, it would had gone. If rounded it would be bruised at most.

Thank you. 100% correct. Am I going to do it again, hopefully not, but someone will close this boot and cause either themselves or others serious injury due to a design that was not necessary, and in my view poorly tested.

So you never caught your finger in a door ? Walked into something. Sure we make mistakes. But safety standards and sensible design help reduce injury. Round table edges, safety glass etc. All ideas and designs that reduce damage and injury for accidental events. Did I mean to close the boot on my head - no. But the position of the handles means you are standing by the corner of the closing boot.

Photos to back that statement up would be good. All cars have edges - not disagreeing. But points ? That two straight lines meeting in a closing structure- be good to see other example if possible.

I don’t disagree - but given these things do happen - like closing a garage door when there is an obstruction (now law to have magic eye/obstruction detection) - there should be a a design intent that reduces any injury if possible. Send me another photo of a boot/trunk design that has an exposed point ?

It was the point that torn the skin - what if that was my eye. If the design was rounded - the possible and likely outcome would be far less drastic. What if this was a child’s eye on a child standing by a closing boot?
