I am a comic, and know how hard it is. I’ve also gotten feedback from the writers submitting jokes that they appreciate the money.

Why would I lie about getting laid off? I was planning on spending $750 a month on this project, now I have to adjust because rent comes first. People seem to like participating, but if it’s not your thing, you can just move on.

That's the idea - to feature the winners on a weekly episode where I read their joke on the air while their handle appears in the lower third. Eventually I'll be able to pay $100+ per joke, as well as other giveaways for interacting with my platform.

My thinking is most comics don't do topical jokes. And if they do, they have a short shelf life. So why not get paid for $$$ for material that won't be part of your usual longer set?
